does anyone know the following coral dips and any recommendation as to which one to get for dipping new corals before adding to tank to rid of parasites... Seachem Reef Dip, Lugol's, or Kent Lugol's solution... thanks much. Dano

thank you... I got ReVive and kent Lugol's.... since I have never dipped, do you think it is worth it to take all corals out and dip? (please say no).

Unless you have something specific that you want to kill, i wouldn't take corals out of your tank to dip them.

If they are doing ok and you have no STN/RTN (slow-rapid tissue necrosis) just let them be.

The main use for the various dips is to keep new problems out of your tank, or to treat problems that you see with corals. The only time I can imagine dipping them all is if you were moving everything from one tank to another, and you had known problems. I did this when I moved everything from my 45 to my 58; the 45 had flatworms, so I dipped everything in Flatworm Exit on the way to the new tank.

I use all three. I use reVive, Lugols and or fresh water dip for new corals. I also like Lugols or reef dip for corals that have been injured by fragging or other coral stings. They help prevent infection and stop the spread of brown jelly, at least that's been my experience. Lugols is very strong.
