  1. Three buckets of some nice sized pieces of live rock, a file size square tupperware of coral sand and a 29 glass and 10 glass drilled tanks. Free. All have been out of tank for a long time. If you are willing, I would be open to some frags at some point in future when I get back to office tank, but I have gotten rid of home tank. But if you just want it for free its your too. Pickup ASAP. Falls Church.
  2. Hi... sorry I disappeared.  I’ve moved and just been overwhelmed.  If you are still interested I can measure the room for the sump.  Basically the sump would fit in the dimensions of the tank which were listed except for maybe height of the sump area.  There no middle posts in the sump or an open back with a support in the middle.    Let me know if you are still interested.  Thanks.

Great... I won’t get back to the tank till tomorrow afternoon and can measure sump then.  I could also FaceTime you when I am there if you want to see it that way.  I will have access if you wanted to come by on Saturday or Sunday.  I am near 7 corners in Falls church, va.  My cell is 202-210-5947 if you want to talk

  3. Please see the craigslist posting .... is a great set up but injuries have kept me from being able to take care of it. You can see current pictures and the way it looked when it was beautiful. Lots of extras included. Current livestock is a large serpent star, an engineer gobie (which I would prefer to keep) and a couple of soft corals and one hard coral, but the beauty now is that it is a great tank set up with beautiful cherry cabinetry and a large tank in a small footprint. Will need a good cleaning. https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/for/d/large-furniture-grade-reef/6438850976.html. Thanks for looking
  4. Hi, My dad has been a member with wamas for a long time. I'm his 11 year old son. I wanted to setup a small tank. He has a 8 gallon biocube that has been sitting around the house for while. I am planing on setting that up and I need some stock for it. I was wondering if anybody had some small fish that they are selling. If anybody has a recommendation for any fish that would be very helpful and if anybody has experience with this tank that has ideas about how to set the tank up. I planing to have a rock some corals and some small fish. I was wondering if it was I good idea to have an anemone in this tank. Thanks, Adin
  5. I have a 155 reef tank and have in the past infrequently added Essential Elements or Coral Vital. I also feed corals infrequently with Marine Snow. I pretty consistently add two part dosing. Occasionally a little iodine and Magnesium/strontium. Very lax on water changes but corals and fish are thriving. I need to get some salt and was looking through Dr. Foster's catalogue and they have so many different coral supplements I though I would check to see if anyone has some favorites, probably to replace the Essential Elements/coral Vital. Thanks.
  6. Really sorry to hear about this.... and wishing you luck getting it all back healthy and beautiful again.... every time I've been considering getting out after some major losses and major time dumps I ended up getting a bigger tank!! i'm interested in knowing more about people's experiences with the REd Slime remover, which I have used a couple of times with out the bad results you had.
  7. Never heard fo the waterbug... how does it work? Sounds interesting/helpful (alot cheaper than a contractor or a therapist) and I may want it. Thanks.
  8. I have a 72 gallon bowfront with stand that I wanted to sell but I haven't worked hard at it and would be happy to donate it to Children's. The center brace needs to be replaced and I have the replacement part (plastic trim that goes over the top of the tank. It is RR with corner overflow and sump. And a hood which is rectangular and not bow front. I could sell cheap some T 5 lighting and a skimmer or if they don't have the money i could donate it.
  9. I fairly recently upgraded to a 130 which is 4ft wide, curved corners and very tall. I have to stand on a tall stepladder and take the hood off to be able to barely reach the bottom with my fingertips. Next time I will buy a more accessible tank. Anyways, I was looking for advice on what people thought was the best algae cleaners/scapers, magnetic or otherwise, since it is so hard to get my arm in the tank. Thanks
  10. thanks much for all the hard work.
  11. Thanks for the responses. I will not get either. And Dave, wanted to thank you for your comments about my suicided Naso Tang. In fact, after the power outage I did not empty the skimmer and later that week my wife spoke of an awful smell coming from downstairs so maybe the naso's death might have had something to do with the skimmer turning back on. Though none of the other fish or corals seemed to have been affected.
  12. I am thinking of getting one of these to add some bright red color to my tank. Any suggestions/guidance as to hardiness, longevity, appeal, growth? Thanks.
  13. We stayed at Villas Del Mar Hau in Isabela... the beach in front has a huge rock protecting the cove from the waves so it is good for kids and also a fun place to snorkel. On the south western side of the island there is a biolumenescent bay which was really cool to swim in at night. I also went to Vieques a couple of years ago and had a great time. Kayaked in a biolumenescent bay and visited a black sand beach.
  14. thanks for the help... too late... he was dead by the time I went back downstairs, maybe even before I wrote the post. Weird. 4 days without power. After the first day with a battery powered air pump and occasional water pump to move th water around with a battery inverter, I put the lights on the past two nights. Everything in this tank looked fine and didn't notice any die off. He was 7 1/2 inches and very beautiful. Eating well. Active. Fat and healthy. My favorite fish. Passed by the tank and he was jetting up to the top, down to the bottom, bumped into some rocks and scratched his face, and then was upside down on the bottom of the tank. A matter of seconds. Seemed to move gills a little which is when I ran upstairs to write post but when I returned downstairs there was already a hermit crab grabbing his mouth. I picked him up and tried to move him around a bit to see if I could get some air in him but no go. AARGGHH!!!!!
  15. after finally felling like i can relax after 4 days without power and everything in my home tank looking ok I just saw my naso tang divebombing around the tank for 15 seconds and now lying upside down on the floor looking seconds from death. All of this completely out of the blue and suddenly. Any ideas? thanks
  16. Total tank crash in my 54 at work due to power outage. Trying to suck out all the disgusting stinky water and recycle and keep the rock in clean water. Didn't bring enough from home so was wondering if anyone in Bethesda had any extra water. Not an emergency since all the livestock is dead anyways but have a break now to take care of it. Thanks much.
  17. Still without power at home.... tank is in bottom level and stays around 80 with lights off. Have used battery air pump since outage Friday night. would plug small ower head on a backup power source and run for 15 minutes every few hours till my neoghbor bought a generator for his fish pond and I was able to plug a line in and run my sump and return. I hope I don;t have any losses but won't know for sure till I turn on the lights and take a careful inspection. My work tank didn't fare so well. I was so wiped out with the tank at home, my neoghbor's pond, my family and the heat that I never went to check on my work tank. I lost everything in my 54 gallon. Shrimp, 3 anemones, tang, 2 clowns, 2 brittles, and some other small corals, inverts (peppermint, mithrax). Very upsetting especially since I knew I should come check on it but was just too wiped out (live in falls church, work in bethesda).
  18. sorry to hear about your losses and frustrations.... I am speaking up for the other side, though. I agree not to rush into selling but I am not clear it isn't a good idea sometimes. So if you are clear you want to sell go ahead. I moved twice in the last year while I was doing some house renovation and each time it was traumatic on the tank and I lost so much livestock. Each time I thought about selling but decided I wouold miss it. And each time the frustration and worn out feelings and sickness over the death got worse. After my second move, after I had the tank stabilized again, I had some plumbing and electrical problems while I was away and another major die off. Rather than selling I ended up doubling up from my 72 to a 130 but my energy just isn't into it the same way and I am always thinking I wished I had just sold the whole thing... before the first move when I could have sold it for a lot of money, before the second move when it was still valuable, before I upgraded when at least I could have gotten out. Granted, I still have the tank so I can't really sayI would feel better having sold it. But I am not in the hobby with the same energy like I was. And I'm tired of starting out again and again after these die offs. And though I have a nice tank it takes a long time to build all the livestock back up. And now, when I came to work today I found my work tank - 54 gallon - got completely destroyed in the power outage and everything is dead and I have to take it all apart.
  19. welcome... I'm in 7 corners Falls Church.
  20. I am looking to get livestock... where are you located?
  21. thanks all. I added the 2 T5 to the PC's that were already there. what are the differences pros/cons of 10,000 k vs 20000k?
  22. I bought a used 130 bowfront and it came with a coralife aqualight pro fixture in the hood - 1 x 150 w MH 10,000, 2 65 watt PC Actinics, and 2 Blue moonlight LEDs. I just added to it tonight 2 55 w T5 bulbs. Is this enough lighting for a reef tank with anemones, mostly softies but some LPS and SPS. If not, is there any not too pricey upgrade you would recommend. I do have a 4 x 55 watt T% fixture from my old tank but I don't think that would be better than the aqualight pro and there isn't room for both. Also, the Aqualight pro is sold with the 150 MH 10,000K and actinic PC's. the bulbs need to be replaced. Should I stick with that configuration? And what t5's would you recommend me using. I've neveer had MH before. Thanks much.
  23. Hi David... so sorry to hear of all that death... I have been through three different recent losses related to moving (twice) and tank plumbing problem (once) and it is awful, frustrating, sad and impotent to experience all that death and finding more and being overwhelmed with what to do. I wish you and the family well and that you will soon be able to rebuild what sounds like a magnificent tank. Daniel
  24. Would be happy to trade you for some other mushrooms I have growing... maroonish with a texture and some green.
  25. I have a 36 inch PC unit you could borrow in Falls church
