This video is suitable for everyone (no crustaceans die or are eaten in it).

The G. Chiragra is supposedly the hardest hitting and most bad-tempered of all the mantis shrimps.

If you watch to the end, you will see a most unfortunate clip that caused my girlfriend to laugh for a long time.

LOL that was great at the end! Did it draw blood?

I did not bleed, but it hurt.

I had intended to pull my hand away and then put "Yeah, Right...I'm not THAT stupid!" on the video...but the guy was just too fast for me. I think I had already started pulling away when he hit me.

Should have had the girlfriend film, then we could have seen the attack.

Take-two? :lol2:

Didn't you see the attack in the video? It didn't last long.

I don't believe I'll be putting my hand in there again

Tim, after talking to you last night, I laughed a bit and then I really cracked up when I saw the clip. The video camera tumbling down and your exclamation afterwards was classic! Thanks for satisfying!

By the way, after our conversation last night, I thought your mantis might be bigger, but from what I understand, the ones that crack the glass are the really big ones - 12"-14" size. You'll have to feed that guy some steroid laced crabs and put him to work.

I don't think peacocks or chiragras (the 2 often claimed as the only 2 who can break glass) get that size. I know there are some spearers that do (zebra).

I captured some good footage of running around my basement holding my finger after the incident. I figured I might as well include it.

ROFLMAO....That's what you get!

You people do not seem very sympathetic.

One of your own has been attacked! What does a guy have to do around here...sniff zoo zapors? Have my car broken into a few times?

hmpf!

BTW, what tank do you keep the mantis in?

My "display" mantis tank is a 29. See my Dedicated Tank Thread.

This guy I bought as an experiment to see if he can break glass. Right this minute he is in a 2.5G tank because it had the thinnest glass I could find on any tank. After he breaks it or I decide he cannot break it, I will probably move him to a 10G.

LOL, It's like wanting to hand feed a Tiger at the zoo...and you want sympathy? Hahahahahaha...LOL No! Don't play with or tease animals!!!! But it was hysterical to watch you jump the way you did.

I wasn't trying to get hit, I was trying to pull away at the last minute, heh.

Thanks for the sand/gravel BTW. That is what is in this tank.

tim

He's very cool. The video is great. Glad the sand was put to good use. I'm still laughing and thanks for that.
