Grav,

I happened upon an IV at TRT. Grim had a few and may be willing to get one for you, or tell you where he gets his. HTH.

I bought more Rubber (40 durometer instead of 70) I'll cut them and contact me if you want a softer compound.

Chip,

What are you using this for? May i ask?

In case you are devising some contraption that goes with the

reactor :)

Btw, will you be available this weekend? I can swing by to

drop off the #3 and a tin of silicone grease.

Hey Guys

I just checked the PH of the reactor tonight and it was 10.9. I thought the PH was supposed to be around 12. Does 10.9 mean I have to add more Kalk now? The kalk that settles after the mix never really settles but seems to be a cloud at the bottom of the reactor. When I mix the cloud does spread up to the pump but it never really settles like it did the 1st week.

Is the pH 10 after a while after mixing or right after mixing?

My reactor has been running for over a week and i still see 12.

I added over a couple of cups of kalk powder.

I have not gotten my unit to stop a back flow when used inline with a float.

Is anyone using theirs inline or are you using a trickle type pump?

Now that's a pizza w/ peppers to the left.

Hey Chip

I'm using a trickle type. I pump water up to a 5 gallon bucket that feeds the reactor through an IV type hose. I drop a second 24 hours a day. It's been working great so far.

PH has been great. I've had PH trouble ever since I set this new tank up. PH was always around 7.8 to 7.9. PH is now steady at 8.2 to 8.3. I have been keeping an eye on it so it doesn't creep up too high on me.

Chip,

I run it inline direct from my RO/DI storage cylinder. I have throttled the inlet such that

the outlet drips like 3 drips in 2 seconds or so.

pH has been around 8.17 and higher.

The coral growth is incredible.

The kalk reactor effluent pH is around 12.

I run  the mixing pump about 6 to 7 times a day using an analog

timer.

I still like the float switch deal.  I need a check valve and I'm willing to pay and do the work to have it that way.

The unit itself operates like a champ!

I'm already thinking calcium reactor (after Howards skimmer).

hmmmmm

What if you had both???

A float switch that would only allow water into the reactor when the level was low, and an IV drip to slow the rate (so it takes 2 hrs to fill instead of 20 min.) It would kill the PH swing and top off "birds" with one stone.

Someone say skimmer?

Looks like a real pizza, either the oven is working better or your camera is.

Chip,

I will eventually be hooking up the kalk reactor thru a dual float switch triggering a

solenoid. Already have the solenoid on hand.Just need to prioritize the time to do it among an

ever growing "To Do" list.
