interesting way of making a door, looks good. Why not use wood glue instead?

I robbed the idea from the canopy Grav made. Oh, and I did use wood glue.

Ok, I've made a little more progress. I fixed the stand so it is the right size and got it in place. I've also got the canopy going strong. Here are some pics:

I know it's another expensive plumbing piece, but don't you want to have a ball valve before that union on the intake side of your closed loop pump? I know you have them on all of the bulkheads, but there will still be a good amount of water in the pipes if you close them all off and disconnect the union. Just a thought.

Way ahead of you. The Ball balve will either go between the union and the 90. I'm just waiting to get the inside of the stand finished to make sure it will fit ok. If it doesn't fit I'm going to put it right before the 90.

Being a corner tank and space available to work behind the tank, it seems it would be difficult to turn those ball valves or unions shown in your picture. One handed operation might put pressure on that bulkhead (and on glass  ). Different hands for each side too.

Why not put all those connections below where they are accessible from inside the stand?

I figured, but I thought to be on the safe side I might as well mention it just in case. I know how easy it is to miss stuff when you are setting up a new system (at least for me). It would be an awfully wet job to add that in later.

darn good idea Rio..........thank goodness I plumbed my 4 way with unions as well.......that should be an easy swap!!

For anybody, it is always a good idea to post pics of your plans before all in place. What you though was planned out...well someone else in the club will see it differently and provide valuable feedback possibly. One of many benefits of this club.

Thanks again, just trying to help.

Ok, the canopy is just about ready to be stained:

It fits!

It more than fits... looks very functional! Nice big door - plenty of space to fit your arms in there without having one of those 'canopy raisers'.

Of course - I still don't understand why you want the tank flat on the floor... maybe you prefer laying down while watching the corals grow.

I finally got the tank on the stand!! Now I can finish up the plumbing while I'm waterproofing the inside of it. Here's a pic:

Ok, latest update. I've got sand and water in it and have been doing 15g water swaps between the old and new tanks. I'm putting the lights in the new canopy tonight and will start the tank swap Monday morning. Here are some pics of it ready to go:

Steve...looking good!

What is the pump you are using? How many GPH does it pump?

Will you supplement with another pump or powerheads? How many GPH will that be?

Carl-

I'm using a Sequence dart which is 3600 gph at 0 head. I'm going to have a mag 7 pushing through a sea swirl.

akbuur-

The sump will be under the tank.......I just haven't taken it off of the current tank yet.
