lanman April 8, 2007 April 8, 2007 Hello all, I just moved my Scolymias to their own tank (less current, less light). They seem happier with the new home. Khanh Never heard of it... so I looked it up. Quote: Scolymia Brain Coral (Assorted) - Scolymia species Also known as: Button Scolymia Coral, Green Scolymia Brain, Artichoke Coral, Donut Coral, Saucer Coral Color: The Scolymia Brain Coral (Assorted) has a brown, green, yellow, cream, tan, red color. Type of hard coral: Large polyp stony coral (LPS). Diet: Carnivore. Feeding: It likes to eat filter feeding invert food, Mysis Shrimp, micro-plankton a few times per week, when open. Likes to have very small bits of raw shrimp or silversides.. General notes: The Scolymia Brain Coral is similar to the Cynarina lacrymalis but has more texture to it's polyp. Also known as a meat coral. Will expand very far and has sweeper tentacles that it extends at night, so provide space. Hardy. This specimen prefers to be directly on the sand. End Quote Nice collection! Pretty corals! bob
eddi April 8, 2007 April 8, 2007 If you have never been to see Khanh's tanks, it is worth a trip. He has an efflo that is simply mind blowing! I am a huge brain fan (insert own joke here), and the pictires he posted do not do the corals justice. They are absolutely beautiful.
Bendalat April 9, 2007 Author April 9, 2007 Thank you guys. jason the filter freak, the pics are under 175w 20K XM(not actinic). I could not adjust the white balance on the nikon 8700 coolpic :( Anybody know how? Khanh
Lee Stearns April 9, 2007 April 9, 2007 Khanh Your back row does it for me- Blastos and trumpets/ candy canes. The Brains can grow and expand to take up huge protions of real estate. Seen Eddi's Scolymias feed heavily as well. Great pics. Regards, Lee
