Super Petz

Ok. I need to get this off my chest badly

As a consumer, I'm sure we all appreciate good cust. service, even if not good, at least okay service right?

To me, as a consumer for anything. The customer service is what can make or break a business.

I'm not anal or anything and don't expect some one to feed me grapes when I walk into a petstore or fan me with a giant feather, but SuperPetz c'mon!!

So I went in there to buy a 5 gal jug of RO water. I asked them if they can fill up my empty jug for me, the guy (NO SMILE at all) walks me to the corner of the store and pointed to a spout and said, "here". and walked away...

From my experience, Wally's ppl would go and fill up the water for you as good customer service.

Heck Wally's even offer to carry it for me to my car.

So then, after filling up the water myself, I asked for a plastic bag and rubber band to cover the top of the jug to prevent water from spilling out. (I have no top for the jug). Another guy, replies back, "it's .20 cents". I'm like, You must be freakin' kiddin' me right? He points to a paper on the wall that says, ".20 cents for empty bags."

Wow! I remember the employees at Wally's was NICE enough to place a bag over the jug and tied it for me without me even asking. And here, SuperPets is charging me 20 cents for it!! Geezuz!

As you know, it's not about the measly 20 cents, (we as reefers, are not cheap). It's about the principle of it. How the heck can you charge your customers 20 cents for a bag when he's already buying 5 gal of water from you??

Wally's didn't charge me for bags, Petco didn't charge me for bags, Even Roozen's didn't charge me for bags.

What the H-E-double hocky sticks!?

On top of that, the workers there are sooo mean, NEVER EVER smile, they don't look at you when you talk to them, don't give advices, they're not friendly at all, and basically tells you to F off when you try talk to them.

I had enough of them, I'll NEVER EVER going to shop there again, even if their products/livestocks are 50% off.

I rather give my business to Wally's, where the people are nice, friendly, CHEERY, always w/ a smile.

I hope they CLOSE DOWN!!

*sigh*

oh yeah, and Thanks Wally's for being so great!

You should have asked him if they add 20 cents to the price of their fish if you want them bagged.

I can see it now.

Customer: How much is that nice goldfish.

Clerk: $4.00

Customer: Great I'll take it.

Clerk: Fishes goldfish out of the tank and hands it to the customer.

Customer: Umm can you bag that for me?

Clerk: Bags cost 20 cents extra....

Thats pretty funny, thanks for sharing. I try not to frequent superpetz. I drive the extra 30 minutes (sometimes even the extra hour) to go to BRK or F&F because they do know what good customer service means.

it is funny you bring this up. 'cause I had a similar experience at Wally's about 18 month ago. Went in, no smiles, no greetings,... I ended netting and bagging my ow fish, and then I had to pay for extras... Idon't think Wally does that anymore, as a matter of fact I bee told they have improve on this customer service. Now, back to Supr Petz, the bottom line is the don't care. I been there once or twice a year for the last 4 or 5 years and is always the same attitude... thy never change.

so, conclusion. I stick with F&F ad BRK... you want to know service? just go buy one of these two places, you will see the difference.

Yeah Wally's gotten A LOT better from what you described. EVERY single time i go in there, they always greet me w/ a smile, ask if i needed help and this and that. :)

Sometimes, even if I don't have to get anything, I buy something cheap from them just b/c of their great cust. service.

It really makes a difference!

As for Super pets, if they don't like their job. they should QUIT. I could see it all over their miserable faces.

I know exactly the guy you're tlaking about, too.

For those of you who think Larry at Roozen is missing a chromosome, you

should see this guy at SuperPetz. I think he may be missing his DNA.

Plus all the noise from the darn birds!!

It is the worst pet store ever, in my opinion. In all catagories, exept price-but who cares if your not buying.

They are the only store in my area that carries crickets in several sizes and that is all I buy there. Otherwise I would never stop in.

My gf likes going there cause of the fw fish selection. Does that grumpy guy own the place? He's always there and it's funny that everyone who's come in contact with him has the same (bad) experience.

No, I believe the owner is the surly woman who usually works the register.

She's been working there for over 10 years and he's just showed up in the last few.

When I was doing FW, I used to buy fish there all the time, and it always

took forever to get help. They should:

1. get rid of their SW and just focus on FW

2. fire that guy

3. hire enough folks to serve the customers properly.

4. put the birds in a sound proof room

I rarely buy anything from there unless I need something NOW and they're the only store with it. There is one person there who is nice and has been helpful to me. He's a stocky asian guy with a couple of grey hairs. Just about everyone else there is miserable to deal with.

ha. I think I know which guy you're talking about... hard to forget to only guy that was nice and helpful. I stop by there often since its convenient and their fw selection. Sometimes they have other kids there that are helpful, but only sometimes...

I think that guy must be the husband or brother... why else would the owner keep him there? He always looks pissed!

The only time I heard him speak a complete sentence was when he was mopping the floors and a kid (customer) fell flat on his a$$. lol

What was his complete sentence? "Hey are you alright? Yeah okay, get out of the my store you S.o.B.!"

I know exactly who you're talking about. He is one GGGRUUUUUMPPPYYYY human being.

Yeah I rather drive an hour to BRK or F&F than see their faces and attitude.

IMHO, Super Petz is the pinnacle of superior customer service when compared with Glass Cages. If you don't take Glass Cages into account, then yes, Super Petz is indeed absolutely atrocious.

anybody consider emailing this thread to them for training of staff?

You have a good heart. The trouble is that customer service practicies and principles start at the top. Unless they're established as expectations at the highest level of the business and promulgated down through leadership (by example and coaching)... customer service will fail. I'm not sure their leadership gives a darn enough to listen.

I've tried to gently approach the subject with the woman who I believe owns the

place a few times over the last 10+ years. She is not on my christmas card list.

I went there today to buy some dry goods. I was surprised at what I saw:

1) I noticed very few sick/dying/dead fish. I'm used to seeing a carpet of

corpses on the bottom of their tanks.

2) They have finally started over with that 180 display tank that was completely

taken over by undesirable anemones. They are cycling LR in there now.

3) I didn't see that one guy, and I did see about 3 young guys who I think I

could have gotten help from easily.

4) They had more selection than usual:

I noticed a beautiful pair of "Antenna gobies". These must have been mismarked,

because they do not resemble any picture I have found online of "Antenna gobies".

They were almost transparent, with bright colored spots, and a long spinelike top

fin. I don't think i've ever seen these fish before. They were also quite reasonably

priced at $27.

They also had a nice longhorn cowfish, which I don't recall seeing there before.

The cowfish and these gobies were in the tiny cubes, left side, toward the bottom.

On my way out, I pressed my luck and bought a gum ball. What a mistake that was.

It crumbled into dust in my mouth, and never congealed into anything. It was like

chewing sand. I should have known better.

I've never been the type of person who could keep his mouth shut, much less less cruelty to animals go unchallenged. I plan on taking excerpts from this thread and others I've seen on other forums (with all names and other identifiable elements removed of course) and kindly sharing them with the owner. I don't expect this to have any real impact but it's worth a try.
