  1. It'd drain into the other sump as well, it won't be a problem, I'll make the baffels lower and the tank taller... Any other ideas?
  2. The purpose of the over flow box is to prevent the sump from overflowing... The baffels will be drilled to allow water to flow though but keep the contents of the refigium area in place... I have another sump already that when I get the money I will put a bigger more expensive skimmer in. If the power cuts the water will drain into my other sump. And after others comments I will make the baffels come 2 inches short of the top of the tank/sump
  3. Thanks so much for replying! The olny reason i had the baffles (the would be drilled like swiss cheese) drawn in there was to keep the refigium contents in place... I plan to have fairly fast water flow moving though the bed. I already have a sump with bio balls that will run my tank just fine. I need to get rid of my nitrates, while conserving space and budgets. Any more ideas.... comments?
  4. Alright for giggles, when i get some down time at work I'll start counting previous to this point on the thread. This time i wasted doing this total almost cost me my job but...: Note: I tried to rule out duplicate posts, and account for people editing, but here's what I got ATTENTION AT THIS POINT WE WAMAS MEMEBERS ARE MANAGING APPROX 28,648.18 GALLONS OF WATER! Congrats So whadda I get for doing this total?
  5. Can any one tell me if this if going to work? I need ideas for construction, and techniques. I have very very little room I already have the pump and the sand thats it. Also it can't be any wider than 10 inches... if that
  6. Ok I need some judgement and constructive critism and ideas and comments related to my design not art work! I need to reduce nitrates, I have no money for a Nitraban reactor, and have no place for a hang on refigum, and I'm not about to pour vodka or sugar in my tank. So here my idea, ask me any questions and I'll try to describe my convolution as best as possible. The olny place I have room is under my tank, and I have very little at that, it's a 55 gallon. Let me know
  7. From the album: Random stuff to do with my tank

I'm looking for CONSTRUCTIVE Critisims, and suggestions. I'm sorry Paint is the olny program we have where I work.. lol
  8. A hang on overflow is a good be, I use one and it's pretty well hidden with some well place live rock stacks... I'd reccomend getting a dual over flow right off the bat, incase you want to add extra things such as a seperat sump or RDSB
  9. About half way would be 20 minutes, but I may or may not be comming up that way to see an nice firery redhead, I'd be able to tell you by tomarrow. Thatnks for ht e offer, what could i give you?
  10. Tunze Osmolator, seems awefully expensive when you can get a dosing pump for $40 or so... I think I'll use the dosing pump on my tank.
  11. I just switched out my bed from crushed coral / shell, to a sand olny bed, but in the proscess of course I didn't save a cup or two of sand... I asked for sand before, and I was suposed to get it during the 125 tank move, unfortunately I wasn't able to make it to the move... :( Does any one have a cup or two of sand I could use to seed my new sand bed?? It doesn't need to contain pods or coraline alge, thought that would be very nice, I just need bacteria colonies. I'll post this in forsale/trade section as well see where I can get a reaction. Howard County Maryland Area please. I could pay if nessecary in or reef supplement.
  12. The power head is a good 8 inches under the water... but I olny seem to have this problem with one of my power head.
  13. Any one know from experience why my power head may be having the issues they are? Kicking out bubble and what not... I have no air line attached.
  14. a glass store .. it's a good start lol
  15. twice a day and olny what they can eat in five minutes is good measure for most fish, but tang will gaze alog, so having a salad of sea veggies on hand the majority of the time is a good idea for them
  16. score they agree, thats soo eggs, let me know what hatches
  17. well if it doesn't get and larger in number, I'd have to say it's eggs
  18. http://www.hawkfish.org/snailman/diy3inskimmer.htm <--- has anyone ever built one of these and would be willing to help me build one in exchange for cash or , or at the very least does some one have or know where I could find a step by step photo directions for it's construction?
  19. For good measure how many watts per gallon should you have for easy to moderate light requiring corals, and how far should you have your MH fixture off the surface of the water? Does it matteR?
  20. This is actually a two part question/discussion A. All the peoples aquariums I've seen so far lack any kind of air pump and air stones, how are they getting oxyges into the water?? I have two canisterfilters and a sump on my tank, along with 5 power heads each at at least 125 GPH up to 250 GPH. Do I not need my 4 air stones and 2 deep water air pumps? B. One of my powerheads and ocasionally the out put from one of my canisterfilter will push out a plume of micro fine bubbles that take a while to disperse from my tank and some times settle on and cling to my fish and LR ... is this a problem? Can they cause i'll effects? Should I replace my power head or can something be done to fix it?
