  1. You guys are having too much fun with wheather maps
  2. Make sure when you start up the sump it's completely empty, if you haven't seen any of my posts yet, you will realize that I'm being plauged with issues too! But that's why this club is so awsome!! 3 things (already been said before except one) 1, Make sure the teeth of your over flow box are close to the waters surface so the tank can olny drain so much before the siphon is halted 2, if not already there, where the water return hose enters you tank, about half and inch or so below the water level put a hole in that hose, so no siphon can stay formed that would cause your out put hose to pull water back down into your sump 3, never fill your sump before starting the siphon on the over flow box, let the over flow box once the siphon is started to pull enough water into your sump to cause the overflow box to stop taking in water... after that engage your return pump then begin topping off olny enough water as it takes to get your display tank back to it's desireable water level, this will prevent you from having enough water to over flow your sump again no matter what you do. AS FOR THE FLOOR, I had a 55 gallon tank, crack spilling it's contents across and though the 3rd floor of a town house.... so dont feel too bad, you're in the company of other unfortunate tards such as myself

  4. I can't belive this is getting this kind of reaction, are we all just venting?
  5. Get a UPS they're fairly cheap or free if you're resourceful, and use it to run your air pumps
  6. Ok so i got two more, paid for em... should i place them or just let them go and see where they end up?
  7. I think this thread should be closed, it's starting to go south....
  8. Hey I was the one who started the food thread in the first place, and I was slightly dismayed by seeing it moved as well, however I understand why it was done. At first I too was interested in getting into WAMAS, till I inadvertantly was practically given an outstanding tank by another meber, who talked about WAMAS, after poking around the general discussion area, it was an obvious choice to join.
  9. bump/ How many people in the club use these? Does it need to have a tight fitting lid, i was planning just to use a waste basket. Due to lack of space...
  10. Here look at the DIY link, any one who wants in post... http://www.wamas.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9263
  11. Ahh interesting, from time to time, i notice a hole in the rock about one inch down from where the tentecles come from day to day take a "dump" or eject what appears waste from time to time... Are those tenticles harmful?
  12. It never moves from this location and always retracts into the same spot at dirrent times of day, and has many many little arms, at least 6 or 7
  13. This has been on my live rock for about 2 weeks, it came in on the rock and I haven't seen any thing done by it.... there are neighboring feather dusters that it hasn't seemed to have harmed .... Zoom in and look at what is circled in pink, and surrounded by yellow
  14. I have a free transfer cable you could have, i have like three laying around
  15. I know the RGB spectrum, I'm not completely daft. I mean to ask could the brightness actually cause harm to the fish, i.e. blind them everytime the lights come on. I slept though chem, not biology  I passed my spectrometer test in 101 thank you. What I'm having trouble comprehending here is the units they use for LEDS, I'm not sure what they mean, I have a rough grasp of the spectrum in terms of 10K 20 K 15K etc. How ever in theory could this be duplicated with the application of LEDS? My main question is what is 25,000MCD, 60,000 MCD, 15,000mcd etc what is MCD is it similar to or a sort of specrtum measurement? Or is it a measure of brightness like lumens, foot candle, candlepower (yes i relize those are diffrent types of measure) So is it possible to get the correct amount of intensity out of leds to be as good as a MH buld, if you spend the time to make your own? Anyone care to shed some on the situation?
