  1. Lots of folks like the euroreefs. Geo builds a nice knockoff in that style. Personally I like the new Tunze 9xxx for insump or Barr Aquatic(becket).
  2. I certainly would like to help out, but really need advance notice to modify my work schedules. Congrats on the website award!
  3. I have 2 different euphyllia colonies to contribute to the restock when you are ready
  4. Wow that bundle of polyps must have created quite a coral toxic soup :( Sorry to hear that and thanks for letting us know. Not sure what else that can be done beyond what you are already doing.
  5. I must disagree. Over the last 18 months some batches leave a serious residue, take forever to disolve, or measure high ammonia until 24hours of aeration.......and then some don't. When buying 5 buckets at a shot, it is not fun to get the wrong batch. We'll see if Oceanic is any better over time.
  6. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=185408 sph: made link clickable
  7. Why not run multiple membranes in a series to begin with? The scenario you describe creates diminishing returns in a non linear fashion.
  8. Depends on what you are keeping, what maintenance regimen you are targeting, and whether you own them already. If you are spending money and are targeting low nutrient corals, there are better investments then bio balls. fwiw: I use them on my breeder, soft coral, and LPS systems. Right tool for the job ;>)
  9. My 300g, breeder rack, and standalones with clowns, anemones, and clams all seem to deal with oceanic just fine if not better then IO. I deal better with the speed of mixing, lack of residue, and apparent consistency so far. We shall see. Anyone find the 200g buckets in metro for a good price? Maybe we should get a friendly store to bring in pallet.
  10. My Tunzes have never let me down
  11. Mine eats brine and mysis. Another local's eats PE mysis. Both longterm captives.
  12. mild to very
  13. Wow sorry about the delay :( Quite a bit has come from PetSmart and the rest from other folks runs to Lancaster. I am down to about 80gals worth so I am on the hunt for 5 more buckets, we shall see this time
  14. I have limpets that eat xenia, do you?
  15. I was a bit surprised by the lighting lay out as well, I would have positioned the 4 over the rock and the 4 over the open area.....2 over the rock would not give me the coverage I would need. Unknown how the skylight may add to the lighting Maybe he wants clams on the sand as well Very nice system though.
  16. Pics are not working from here either, nice RC logo though Fish often "eat" anemone spawn, even the clowns. Most "long tentacle" anemones do not pack much of a wallop especially when distracted with spawning. Clowns ususally do a pretty good job of defending their homes from such tentacle eaters. fwiw: My naso and kole attempted to get close to my haddoni during its last spawn and while they did not join the fish that were eaten in the past, they did seem to learn not to go anywhere near the haddoni ::
  17. Been through almost 1,000gal of Oceanic salt and I am done with the others. Just mixed the 300g and poured the salt directly in the tank for mixing, no residue. IO would have left a precipitate all over the sides :( I can't provide any real information on SPS but my anemones, clowns, and misc, look great.
  18. PBT and Achilles are very similar in disposition and should be absolutely added last. PBT's have been worse IME. Both are very touchy to keep for extended periods of time. IMHO a naso is a better choice for long term success. I'd love to drop in but I am double booked already :( Cheers.
  19. hth = hope that helps "G' would likely be "G"ary
  20. You''ll want to put them on a pretty frequent feeding regimen or they tend to get smaller and smaller. One of my colonies that is tougher to feed is to the point the oral disks are down to 2" across. Their peers in another easier to feed tank are 7" across the oral disk :o
  21. Just so the nano medium base and double ended folks won't feel left out 70watt: Pulse start: ANSI M98, core, capcitor, ignitor (medium base) HQI: ANSI: M85, core, capacitor, ignitor Electronic: ANSI: none, metal box with wires 100watt: Pulse start: ANSI: M90, core, capacitor, ignitor (medium base) HQI: ANSI: M140, core, capacitor, ignitor 150watt: Pulse start: ANSI: M102, core, capacitor, ignitor (medium base) HQI: ANSI: M81, core, capacitor, ignitor Electronic: ANSI: none, metal box with wires
  22. Seems like one for the record books :D Congrats Michael
  23. Both Home Depot and Lowes in Sterling stock it, call your local stores and ask for lighting department
  24. Chris, I am glad you and the frag hooked up May it be a source of your future trades. Thanks for the offer and I hope to be able to spend more time at the show next time around. Cheers, Scott
