  1. Hold off on the feeding for approx 7 days to allow the oral cavity to close. Be prepared for them to settle down and monitor them for a move which will likely signify another upcoming split. The event will likely be 3-9 months away depending on your level of feeding, lighting, etc. Congrats on the new addition. fwiw: some of mine split and never move, but as I shared on your earlier thread, I have one colony that runs around prior to every split. Go figure.
  2. Mine are fans of mysis, brine, formula, krill and even silversides. I feed the fungia, cycloceris, lobo's, trachy's, euphyllia, etc. every 3 days.
  3. Ballast may depend heavily on your choice of bulb. The SE's are nice so you can use a 250 or 400, ballast change of course. I use the blueline 400's, icecap 250's and the M81 for 150 now and get great flexibility in bulbs. Cheers.
  4. Lack of feeding response after more then 2 weeks would concern me. Try the silversides w/o selcon. Might also want to increase the flow a bit to bring more 02 and wash away waste products.
  5. Some early MH electronics might need a tweak, but the newer units don't appear to need any adjustment. Post in the IceCap Forum on RC or PM user "ASH" Cheers
  6. Anemones are critters with very simple sensory systems, so I imagine the relocation of the rock post lighting upgrade triggered the movement. It will likely settle down in under a week or so. fwiw: One of my BTAs will start to wander pre-split and has been doing that for at least 6 splits over the years. fwiw2: My BTAs do much better when feed whole silversides.
  7. I'd be willing to go half with you and maybe add a few more things to make shipping worthwhile. Let me know.
  8. I have been considering a pallet while reworking my systems. Let me know how your dealings going, although I may not put a DSB back into the 300 which drops me closer to half a pallet. We shall see.
  9. RC has a posted incident. If I remember correctly they were A. polymus hosting in a S. haddoni. Interesting to see if my new pair of saddles beat up haddoni's the same way ???
  10. Ring Ring ;>) May it be a quiet and dry night.
  11. I have a mantis tank for just such an occasion. Amazing to see who lasts over the years
  12. Aqua 'Luminator, came in Daylight, Actinic/Daylight, and Actinic. The old address is strikingly similar to a ballast maker in NJ, but they called theirs "Lazurite" when the IceCap name was on the tube :: Somewhere I am sure I have 24" cases in storage. I just used up my last box of 36" and while they are not visibly as bright as URI's, they work. Not sure where TTP found them, but mine are at least 4 years old (prob near 6) and I have not seen them for sale since.
  13. Best to avoid the insides of pc power supplies. Quite dangerous, even when they are not plugged into the wall. Capaciters might hold a charge for and extended period of time. As Sph2sail advised, better to get cheap DC fans and AC to DC power adapters at Radio Shack. AC fans can be purchased at RS as well, but tend to cost more AND it is more difficult to regulate the speed with simple electronic mods. Cheers.
  14. gorilla rack is a brand name for those angle iron shelves you see folks put in garages. I used some I now longer needed for a few projects, i.e. ceiling mounted my home theater projector as well. It has a reasonably tough finish compared to the cheaper shelving systems. If you cruise through home depot/lowes you should be able to find the aircraft wire precut with ends that fit industrial florescents or use the coated aircraft cable they use for dog runs, etc. hope that helps. Cheers.
  15. I prefer slotted angle iron mounted to the ceiling so I can move the pendants left and right easily and have multiple holes to utilize for raising/lowering. The "gorilla rack" stuff is coated very nicely as well. Cheers.
  16. Kept them upstream for a herd of WC seahorses. I found the large natural color sailfins to be most tolerant of water conditions and produce the best. fwiw: they are durable in FW as well if you keep the pH high enough, otherwise cancel Christmas.
  17. I would be interested in adding it to one of my tanks. I'll send you a pm and we'll figure something out. Cheers.
  18. Hang in there eddi, it can and will get better. In the category of flooding on these separate occassions: Collapsed a ceiling Destroyed walls, twice Replaced carpet, twice and those were all before I moved out of my parents house [crzy] I still can't talk about the 350 still sitting in my garage. I really think, yes...... -[[[ [beer2] o]
  19. RED DOG, The only ick med I have used in a reef is "Kick-Ich" by Ruby Reef. If the infection is not too bad, it has worked for me. Many years ago in the days of undergravel filters we used Hex-A-Mit but it will wack some inverts. Even jokingly, copper in a reef is difficult to maintain at proper level due to the filtration gear, precipitation, etc. It will not likely be effective. If the infection is really taking hold you'll need to move the fish to quarantine. IME, all the fish to QT for 6 weeks so the parasites/protozoans in the reef drop dead. Cheers and good luck. Edit: btw: Amylo could be the culprit and may take 20 days to show up. On this I was recently reaquainted :(
  20. Michael, I'll be running by the big "R" right after meeting you on Thurs. I am sure they will have some that need "fixing" right away :( Although I heard they may not be getting a new shipment from that area this week. Count me in for either specimens or $ depending on avail of specimens locally. I would prefer to see us donate as a club. Cheers.
  21. That's alright I was at the store the other day and thought they said the 29th :p
  22. If you are putting them in a canopy it will come down to the reflector the ballast combinations. Sanjay's testing shows SE's equivalent ballasts put out essentially the same as DE's. Unless you are comparing a 175 vs. 150 comparison which the 175 SE wins slightly. fwiw: the compact nature of the DE reflectors pushed me in that direction. Gotta look down on the clams :D
  23. I've got a spare w/o needle valve you are welcome to borrow or buy. I think I've got $25 into the thing.
  24. YIKES $611.01 + $40 S&H !:0
