Sadly Monday Nov 30th. My Father Bill Cobb passed away. My name is Patricia and I am his daughter. I knew he loved this group and sadly we do not know how to maintain the tanks. We know he spend a lot of money and this was his favorite hobby but would love to sell to someone who can take care of the fish and also help get money for funeral cost. Located in southern maryland. I purchased a 150gpd membrane and the appropiate flow restrictor from them back in 2010 and stored it in my garage until the existing membrane needed changing, but with my house fire and the reconstruction time I Just now installed the equipment. I found the switch was leaking on the flow restrictor and contact AWI. They warranteed it and I'm really appreciative.
Thumbs up to them.
I just wet and wring dry a microfiber cloth that was rinsed in plain water and wipe the reflectors down. Then use a terry cloth rag to buff them dry to a shine. No streaks from chemicals.
Here is what I've been using for a while and I have it shipped to my local Ace store so there's no shipping charges.

I purchase a large box of Epsom salts at CVS.
By the way. You may want to upgrade the aquatraders ballast because they make the halides a little yellow. I replaced mine with Blueline 250w ballast and what a difference it makes.
Pinpoint has a nice salinity monitor I use for mixing saltwater. I think it was around $120.00 .I used to run ozone with an orp monitor. It was much ado about nothing and unless I start coral farming I won't test orp myself.
I think if you are using suppliments especially ones that raise alk. you should at the minimum use some ph test strips from petco, petsmart, just to let you know you are in the vicinity of proper Ph. Too high a Ph will open up a whole new set of problems you don't want.
If you can get in on the BRS group buy for some dry rock. This will save you money on future purchases with them. I have always used pieces of 1 1/4" pvc to prop the rock on. Unless you go with a deep sand bed eggcrate will prevent the movement of some critters like Nassarius. Depending on where you are I have plenty of macroalgae to start up your refugium.
Are the white spots sitting on the skin surface or in the skin? You will probably have to keep a close eye on the amount of spots to see if they're multiplying. My hippo is neurotic, diving into the nearest crevice when anyone approaches the tank often in another fishes spot where he also gets nipped from the other fishes. Keep an eye on the amount of spots.
I've got the same problem with my BioCube 29 which is also continually have algae problems. I syphoned out 50% of the sand and rinsed it, replaced the stock pump with a Rio 6HF and added a MaxiJet 1200 for more flow in the tank and it still comes back. I thought the CPR skimmer would help but Noooo. I'll tag along a hope with both can find a answer.
There are capillary flow restrictors that are inside the flex tubing. There is a inline FR and another one (the name illudes me). Normally the right angle fitting on the drain output of the membrane housing is a check valve.
I can help on the Waldorf side but I have a oven repairman at 12PM, so it would have to be 11AM sharp. I also have a trailer if needed. You can borrow the trailer even if you have enough help. 301.705.5530
