  1. Sadly Monday Nov 30th. My Father Bill Cobb passed away. My name is Patricia and I am his daughter. I knew he loved this group and sadly we do not know how to maintain the tanks. We know he spend a lot of money and this was his favorite hobby but would love to sell to someone who can take care of the fish and also help get money for funeral cost. Located in southern maryland. Email for interest at winter_angel98@yahoo.com
  2. I purchased a 150gpd membrane and the appropiate flow restrictor from them back in 2010 and stored it in my garage until the existing membrane needed changing, but with my house fire and the reconstruction time I Just now installed the equipment. I found the switch was leaking on the flow restrictor and contact AWI. They warranteed it and I'm really appreciative. Thumbs up to them.
  3. I just wet and wring dry a microfiber cloth that was rinsed in plain water and wipe the reflectors down. Then use a terry cloth rag to buff them dry to a shine. No streaks from chemicals.
  4. Here is what I've been using for a while and I have it shipped to my local Ace store so there's no shipping charges. http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4480779&kw=calcium+chloride&origkw=calcium+chloride&searchId=60343633963 http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4480777&kw=magnesium+chloride&origkw=magnesium+chloride&searchId=60343870453 http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2564121&kw=baking+soda&origkw=baking+soda&searchId=60343710733 I purchase a large box of Epsom salts at CVS.
  5. Aquatraders.com Look under metal halides Hanging Kits
  6. By the way. You may want to upgrade the aquatraders ballast because they make the halides a little yellow. I replaced mine with Blueline 250w ballast and what a difference it makes.
  7. absolutely an AquaTraders.com unit. Looks just like my 2 lamp 250w 48" unit, just shorter then yours.
  8. looks like an older version of the AquaTraders 3x250w + 4x65w unit. but older than the ones they show now.
  9. Home Depot, lowes sells them in the mailbox lettering area. They are 1/4" colored orange and used for driveway markers.
  10. Pinpoint has a nice salinity monitor I use for mixing saltwater. I think it was around $120.00 .I used to run ozone with an orp monitor. It was much ado about nothing and unless I start coral farming I won't test orp myself.
  11. I think if you are using suppliments especially ones that raise alk. you should at the minimum use some ph test strips from petco, petsmart, just to let you know you are in the vicinity of proper Ph. Too high a Ph will open up a whole new set of problems you don't want.
  12. If you can get in on the BRS group buy for some dry rock. This will save you money on future purchases with them. I have always used pieces of 1 1/4" pvc to prop the rock on. Unless you go with a deep sand bed eggcrate will prevent the movement of some critters like Nassarius. Depending on where you are I have plenty of macroalgae to start up your refugium.
  13. some of us use 2" or 3" long pieces of 1 1/4" pvc to prop up the rock off of the bottom glass before placing the sand.
