Thats true.....only thing i heard is that distilled is sometimes run thru copper pipes.....
that being said......i figured for .69 cents a gallon at wally world....and only having a minute @2 tds reading we could get this guy going in the hobby.......we all know maKING your own RO water is dandy.....i make mine with the simple tap water purifier......but then again i only have the two small tanks...not nothing fancy like most here......do i see myself buying a fancy unit anytime soon...no...maybe when i upgrade my tank size....yes.
Wal-mart sells drinking water thats ro'd and i tested it @2 on the tds meter.....pretty goood if ya ask me.
safeways purified water gave a 15 on the tds meter.
I took the easy way out when i had cyano...and used red slime remover.....but my tank was only a FOWLR at the time....
Its weird in this hobby.....first its brown....then its red.....then its green.....alll nuisance algae stages we go thru.......now its purple corraline thats a nuisance...
Guys,
how can i plug the holes in the first chamber to get better overflow action.......the holes meaning the extra 4 vent looking holes on the fist area of the filter chamber??????????????
nice pics tracy!
Bryan
Tracy,
i do recognize the holes other than the surface skimmer.....with water in there already...i guess plgging them would be hard now......???
right now i am still cycling/breaking in.....got my sand like i want it....added a small rock from other tank to seed the sand even more than the arag-alive has.....
i would be interested in seeing pix of your fuge setup!
Bryan
Hi,
as we go thru the cycling process i have noticed a few things on the system.....
The overflow "skimming" effect isnt really pronounced like i thought....i have the pump running full steam...
also....i have noticed my temperature range is @76 ish at night and @80ish during the day...wondering what type and where i should put a heater?
One thing that really bugs me is that you can see the top of the water level i guess since the top trim strip isnt wide enough...like on my 20 high tank the water top is hidden by the trim piece of the tank.
any thoughts?
Bryan
Bob, i know you know i was just making a "funny"......
Yep....Dave doesnt like when things get off-topic...he will have to come here and "REIN" things in a bit
I like the old saying "you got to spend money to make money"
this is so true in whatever you retail to a customer base!
going to wally's soon....hope it's bettter than super petz!
