  1. Thanks for the encouraging reply.....sometimes the smaller one does hide behind the filter box. But crazy as it seems earlier this morning the smaller one seemed to be the meaner of the two. It's confusing.
  2. Hey all, So about a month ago I bought a pair of occelaris (sp?) clowns from BRK. One is a little bigger than a quarter and the other is a bit smaller than a nickel. They were best of friends for the first few weeks or so but this past week they have started chasing each other around and shaking in front of each other....as of this morning the chasing and being mean has not caused any damage to either. My question is will they stop and be friends again? I've been researching clowns and it seems they will settle down? I hope? Thoughts? Bryan
  3. I bought mine for my 20 gallon from gulfliverock.com , his customer service leaves a lot to be desired but his quality and shipping was awesome. With that being said I had no livestock, just a 3 inch sandbed and the tank had been running for close to a month. Upon adding it I ran a lot of carbon and was dosing daily with MB7 and Seachem pristine. Ammonia and nitrites really never gave me any issues. I would buy from him again if the need arises. The main reason I went this route is for the natural look and the hitchikers. I am a big fan of the keys reef landscape .
  4. Thanks! I ended up getting a Tail spot blenny from BRK and everything is great!
  5. Has anyone successfully kept different types gobies in smaller tanks? I was considering adding a prawn goby w/ shrimp to my 20 gallon which already has a rainfords....Thoughts?
  6. Wait is this still a thing....J/K! Sounds like a great idea!
  7. Yes, This is a hitch hiker from Gulf of Mexico live rock. Bryan
  8. Hey all, Thoughts on this anenome? Thanks!
  9. HEY Thanks for the info, especially on the Mandarin. Scratching it off the list.... How about this....as we've been looking at BRK stock list. 1 - Firefish 1- Rainfords goby 1- tail spot blenny 1- small 6 line wrasse (always been a fan of them) Thoughts?
  10. Hey all! I think I have conquered all the ugly stages.....dinos....green haze like dinos....red cyano. All I have now is minimal amounts of hair algae. The tank is growing feather calupera and also some nice red macroalgaes. A few questions- When housing firefish do they do better in groups/schools? We are thinking for our fish list- 3-4 firefish 1 Rainfords goby 1 Mandarin goby. Thoughts on this list ? Could I add a small 6 line wrasse? ( later after the above get settled in?) The tank has a excellent pod population. Looks like someone sprinkled salt on interior of glass. They are everywhere for which I am thankful! Bryan
  11. Thanks everyone! right now and for the foreseeable future I am just FOWLR. My concern with glass top was restricting gas exchange. I would mianly use this while out of town to control evaporation and until I find a ATO that allows me to run my water level above the plastic rim of the tank. (never been a fan of seeing the water level) THANKS AGAIN!
  12. Right now FOWLR. May be adding some soft corals later. So...glass tops are ok?
  13. Hey all, so...I'm running the 20 gallon high tank, back in the day I ran uncovered and of course I had lost a few fish due to being jumpers. What options do I have for covering the tank but hopefully not reducing my t-5 fixtures efficiency? Is there a magical way to cover that helps with evaporation and jumpers but doesnt cut down on my light penetration? ( I am running sumpless ) Thanks!
  14. Just wanted to double check! Thanks!
  15. Boy o' boy.....being out of the hobby for over ten years has taken its toll on me. So.....I overcame the dinoflag. outbreak but now I have it's ugly stepbrother the green version. What is this green haze that's growing on my glass? When I scrape it off, it's like green cloud? It's very resilient and appears back on the glass that evening?( Snails love it, but cant keep up ) Is this just another stage my tank is going through? Nitrites,Nitrates and ammonia are non-existent.....filtering with Chemipure elite and tank has 3+ inches of sand bed. Thoughts?
  16. Thanks so much. I am thinking a piece of plexiglass and a coulpe of zip ties might be the better route.
  17. Hey all, 50% of my filtration on the 20 gallon is by a Seachem Tidal 35 filter......I want to close of some of the water inlet as to create more top draw for surface yuck. Is there a tape that has been deemed saltwater safe? Thanks! Bryan
  18. Thanks ! The ATO for me would be to replace the fresh water evap. I was looking to get an automated one so I dont have to add a few cups manually on a daily basis. I was looking at one that used optical sensors but it wouldnt allow me to maintain the level above the tank rim to hide water level top. I am not running a sump so this would be mounted on the tank and draw from a rodi tank on the floor. Thanks!
  19. All. I ended up doing the 2 blue + , 1 Actinic , 1 Coral plus. Beautiful mix!
  20. Heyy all.... So the 20 gallon has been up and running for almost 4 weeks.....but it threw me curve ball today. I noticed some dino/brown patches. HELP! S.O.S.! Right now it only has the 3-4 inches of fine aragonite and 2 pieces of live rock. Secondly.....I need a ATO that allows for me to maintain the level above the plastic rim of the tank so we dont have to see the water level. Thanks a bunch y'all!
