  1. Ok so I finally got married this past Sunday and glad to be back. Over the past few months my tank has taken a hit since i could not focus my attention on it. Between a Alk over dose (x2), low PH and water instability i have lost quite a bit in the last month. I lost 3 colonies, 10 frags and have bleaching on almost every SPS in my tank (some are still bleaching). Man I'm glad to be married but sad to look at the tank. I dont even know where to start to try and fix this. Doesnt help that I'm broke at the same time

  3. NEWBIE TIP: When drilling never drill a round object or any object at that on your leg unless you want to have a hole in your leg and enjoy emergency room visits! That photo looked like it could of turned out bad if that drill slipped!

  7. i dont think it can be done unless its a small nano thats skimmer less and has cheap lighting.

  9. I have carbon monoxide testers on each level of the house including one outside of the utility room and never had them go off so can i safely assume i am good? Just want to make sure my family is safe
  10. Ok i have a question that might help as well. I have my setup in wall in the same small room as my HVAC and hot water heater. I cut out the drywall that was seperating the utility room and under the stairs so that i would have a place for plumbing my sump and refug under the stairs. My intake for my Hvac was under the stairs and had a tube that extended it to a grill that lead to room in my basement. I disconnected the tube so the intake is under my stairs where the sump and refug sit. I have a opening under the stairs, empty vent under the stairs and the utility door has a vented door. I have seen alittle bit of surface rust on the HVac system but mainly my fauly since i spill water on it sometimes. Anyone see health issue or any issues with this?

  16. water changes are key in a QT. i would did mine every other day
  17. IMO give him a few days to adjust before lowering salinity. QT him for 4-6 weeks and slowly raise the salinity in the QT tank until it matches the main tank. I think i remember someone saying not to increase salinity more than .002 per day but basically very slowly. Could take a week or more to bring it back up. Then acclimate him to the main tank. good luck
  18. I have heard of the second ones refered to Texas trash (aka Dallas cowboys) First ones look kind of like mohawks
  19. Snails are fine. 24 hours is enough time IMO for them to spread to another coral. The problem with red bugs is people dont even realize they have them and they sell/trade and spread them. I think there are probably quite a few people in the club that have them that have no idea. This is why its always easier to dip all incoming corals including one from members or your best friends. Red bugs arent a big deal and can be fixed very easily. Just looking at the corals and seeing no signs of them isnt enough. Good Luck and keep is up to date with what you do.
  20. i have leaft crabs in there and will say that hermits will die. I had a sally lightfoot and emerald survive
  21. Yep it will i completly forogt about that you need to remove all shrimp and crabs
  22. Those are red bugs. They might not seem to be dead but they could be with a iodine dip. I have done this in the past and have to say that they are going to come back because im sure you didnt get them all. Interceptoring the whole tank 3 times is the only way to make sure you get all of them. It doesnt kill the unhatched eggs. This is why you need to do it 3 times to make sure they hatch and you kill them or any you missed. Oh and dont just inspect incoming corals, dip them all.
  23. Treat the tank not just the coral (Interceptor). It can be fixed pretty easily without any losses. Treat the tank for 6-8 hours, run carbon, wait a week do a treatment again, run carbon, water change, wait 1 week and do it again, run carbon, water change if you would like and you should be good. Good luck. Contact the guy with a Elephant on a trampoline
