  1. Lol I know hoping don't jinx myself with his tank mates.
  2. I bought a copperband about week and a half ago because I was having a problem with apistia that I just couldn't get rid of and peppermint shrimp weren't an option as predator tank. Less then a week in all apistia is gone and it eats frozen brine shrimp now.
  3. Ok by the looks of it there are 4 different models of D-link ones that can be used.
  4. Do you know how to get the web cam feature to work and what web cams are compatible? And thanks for sharing this I have figured out most on my own but this helps as well.
  5. Thanks that's what I was kind of thinking but wasn't 100% sure
  6. Has anyone had a problem with finding dead stink bugs in their tanks? I have found a few in my sump and in overflow. Has anyone had any problems with these maybe messing with water quality or even maybe fish eating them? I have never found one in my trigger tank but that could also be because it may be eating them I've never noticed anything from my trigger though. But have been wondering if them dead in tank could change water quality.
  7. I wasn't sure where to post this but if it needs moved just let me know. I'm wondering if anyone in the Gaithersburg area has any extra hitch hikers I'm looking for asterina stars or what ever they are called(little white starfish). My Harlequin shrimp has cleaned my tank out of them all and I need to feed it in the next few days. I have been pulling them out of a buddies tank the last week or so while I've been trying to find a place to buy them and try and breed them but he seems to be running out as well. If anyone has any they would like to get rid of please let me know. I have had no luck in finding a place to buy them as well so if you know of a lfs that carries them I would appreciate letting me know which one. I was told to get chocolate chip to feed it but I know they are not reef safe so looking for another way. Thanks again.
  8. I love my reef octopus regal 170int. Speeds on pump make it so easy to tune.
  9. Ok I do have a sump so hope that will help. Don't think its overstocked but do have a tang which I know likes little more o2 then others because the amount they swim. I have 120g DT with 55g sump, in tank I have purple tang, coral beauty, Foxface, Niger trigger, clown, snowflake eel, and cuc only few small corals. I ordered new skimmer today and next day'ed it so should have one back in by Tuesday.
  10. My skimmer broke this morning. I'm wondering if there will be enough air in the tank without the skimmer now. I could always add an air stone if it's not but trying to avoid it if possible. Not sure if there will be enough from the return pump plus 2 wp-25 to support fish and coral till at least tomorrow or Tuesday before I can get new one.
  11. I always qt a fish before adding it in main tank no matter what.
  12. I leave them in. I didn't read everyone else's post but first off in my opinion if a fish in your DT has ich they are already reproducing and it's already to late. Unless your will to remove ALL your fish for 6-12 months for the cycle to stop then add them back in it is better to let it take its corse. I have had it twice in my reef tank once few weeks ago when I changed tanks and couple times in my fish only. It's more of a immune thing and stress, water quality, and some other things are the factors but I have found if you can figure out what's causing it and correct that y fish have got better. In my personal experience I tried a qt tank and treating them but actually found that to be just as stressful on the fish and lost it anyways I have also lost them due to bad water quality and those crappy api test kits telling me my water was fine when it really wasn't fixed the problem stopped losing fish. I usually try to feed little more then normal and have found adding something that helps with slim coat has helped me.
  13. Especially since the number of sharks are on the decline we find new spicies is amazing
  14. I just purchessed a pair and could use some help or advice as to % for color and intensity and hours to run for a 120g 4' tank. I have a few sps corals in tank. I also have the goosenecks and what height should I run them above them tank.
  15. I want to say a big thanks to Ron here at wamas for the help with setting up the 120g I got off him. My fish love there new home so far. Here is picture of the new setup but will be changing lights out to kessil's 160w this week. Now need to let the coral grow and enjoy.
  16. Also a water change on a system like that probably isn't as bad as you think. I've been on a tour of the Baltimore aquarium and asked questions like that about their +300k gallon black tipped reef shark exhibit. Sounded like worst part was they make their own salt with mixtures from a bunch of different types. If anyone gets the time I would recommend taking the tour and they like answering questions and think they like it when they have someone that knows a little about the hobby.
  17. Here is a Zoa nedi I had on one of mine once. You should be able to see the spirl eggs as well
  18. I just bought 100g Rubbermaid other day for same thing. I changed out 1 of my 2 tanks needed to do but your more then welcome to barrow it if needed. Im in Gaithersburg if that's closer.
  19. +1 I have the brs 6 stage system which I love. And yeah difference between 4&6 is you get another carbon filter and an extra Di cartridge which like you said I get a little more use without having to change my resin as often. All the difference is would be don't have to change filters as often but when you do have to buy 2 extra's
  20. Thanks for the help. I decided to empty the storage tank that had been leaking that I sealed with pipe dope which had stopped the leak by the way. Cleaned all threads off and used Teflon tape instead. I was scared to use the water with oily spots on top which was only 25g so far that got wasted. Wish me luck tomorrow and Sunday on tank change out.
  21. I'm wondering if the gray pipe dope is toxic to fish or coral? It says safe to use for drinking water applications but I also know the epa says water is safe to drink up to 500 ppm which is high to me.
  22. Did you have any problems with your fish? I know someone else just did same thing and lost few fish already and others have white spots on them. That's only main concern I really have is my fish as I have an attachment to them more then my coral. Next concern would be the amount of water being added. The new setup is a 120g with a 55g sump my old setup is 55g with prob 10-15g sump so would act as more then 50% water change.
  23. Ok I'm running into a problem. I'm in the process of stepping my tank up. I have a 55g set up now and trying to get the 120g I have now in the same place as 55g. What are my best options for the change over? Please help in giving me options on the best way to go about this without causing to much stress on my fish.
