  1. Lmao I think the tank is Darren's. Not hard to read the caption lol.
  2. They looked so happy playing in those frogspawns
  3. Lmao after reading this post I feel a lot better that it's just not my maroon that hates me it just runs in there blood. Mine gets so mad when I put hand in tank and will travel all the way across the tank to bite me. It loves biting me and can hurt at times after a little sometimes I can get it to calm down and almost pet it but not always. Only fish it picks on in tank is Foxface but all my fish pick on her.
  4. I also don't mean regular bottled water I use to buy RoDi water in 5g bottles or jugs.
  5. Thanks everyone. I also tend to do a 10% water change every week as my coral and fish both like it so far. This all makes since and I really think I was looking to far into all of this. There I guess could have been a few things that could have caused this as well now looking back. I had just opened a fresh bucket of reef salt for mixing, I don't normally or ever remember testing fresh water before so all these things mentioned have helped me realize I over think things a lot of the time. Thanks again for all the help.
  6. Ok so I just installed a new BSR stage 6 RoDi and purchessed 2 Rubbermaid 50g trashcans. After cleaning both with vinegar and water and rinsing out with bottled water I had bought and always fill my tanks with in the past. I had 30g of water in bottles left over so I put that in one Rubbermaid and mixed my salt in it. Now I've usually not always check the ph before putting in my tank after getting salinity right I tested ph and found it was 8.4 which is high I was wondering if it might be the cleaning of the can with the vinegar. Now I also had made some fresh water using the RoDi in the other Rubbermaid and when testing that it's reading it's super low which might just be my water. Can I get anyone's thoughts here as I'm completely lost on what I should do next. Will I always have to bring my ph of my water up every time I use my RoDi unit? Please help.
  7. Oh that's nice. I'm not really in the area but if you need an extra hand I might be able to make a trip if can't get anyone closer.
  8. What about this guys? http://m.plastic-mart.com/category/385/chemtainer-water-tanks
  9. Ok this might be long so I'll appoligize now but just want to go over everything I have noticed or experienced before. Well after getting tired of continuously buying water I decided to buy the BSR 6 stage water saver unit that produces 150g a day. Now set up and installation isn't a problem as it seems a breeze by looking at instructions. My questions are for clean water storage what do people do and use? I watched BSR's video and saw they use 2 Rubbermaid trash cans. I'm not a big fan of these as I think I would like a sealed or mostly sealed container. My reasoning behind this is I use a Rubbermaid trash can to mix my salt water which it works great but one time while mixing a batch I had noticed that I guess my wife had put the lid on over night when I removed the lid it smelled like a dirty wet trash can does not I know this was brand new and never used for trash but it had a weird smell. I don't want to have my nice clean water with the same smell. But then again I'm not sure if a different type of plastic container sealed would do the same. I am looking into maybe a 250g fire suppression water tank for home sprinkler systems. It has a bigger screw on lid then I can pipe out of the bottom drain with a ball valve to get my water out. Can I get others thoughts or am I just over thinking all this? Thanks everyone you all are a great help in the past.
  10. I had same problem and think my cause was fish feeding on them because I have seen few of them nipping at certain ones more then others.
  11. I reuse the old San fransisco frozen treys I had originally bought as frozen food. I go to Asain market and buy few different types of seafood from shrimp, squid, octopus, sushi roe, calms, oysters and even still mix in the frozen brine shrimp. Grind it all in food processor then put in small treys and refreeze. I make different mixtures depending on what types of fish I'm feeding.
  12. I have always wanted one but have heard stories of them climbing out of one tank into another and eating all the fish. Definitely need top with a lock on it if you do.
  13. What is the ozone you talk about running in your skimmer. I have a purple tang and never heard this before so I would like to switch and use it as well. Thanks for the good advice though.
  14. Really cool but to be honest cleaning front and side panels least of my work I could do without. Running mag float across panels isn't to bad I want automatic robo-water-changer/feeder/top off/ and everything else you need to do for maintenance lol. Guess I could always hire someone but I always like the 1 time fee better then weekly or monthly lol. But really cool idea and gadget though.
  15. I I agree and speaking from someone that I guess my one tank would be considered at predator tank I buy turbo snails almost weekly to help with aglal growth. Main thing is to do frequent water changes but I'm not expert either but this has worked for me.
  16. I've always liked purple tangs better but I would take that yellow/white tang any day
  17. Yeah I've always been worried about it being a nitrate and nitrite builder or that's what I've been warned about them so ivealways tried to keep sponge cleaned.
  18. I have a 55g mixed reef tank I run a small eshopps rs75 sump with a skimmer as well as a UV filter. I also have a ehiem canister filter I started with running that I change or clean the sponge every 2 weeks with water change. I run this as back up plus use it to pass the water better through my carbon and phosguard when I use them. My question would be is this bad to use canisters even if change sponges regularly or is it possible to remove the sponges all together and use it just for water to pass through. Any thoughts and suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks
  19. Lol must be hungry enough to keep eating my coral. And son of a gun won't eat the Kenya trees either likes the Zoa's more.
  20. I'm not trying to get rid of my fish at least not yet. I do think it's a feeding issue as well because he sits there and let's all other fish eat and he just munches a little. Might try feeding 3 times a day and see if the helps any.
  21. Doesn't really go by total weight for a room but more wight per sqft. But all those questionnaire right answer those and that will be a start.
  22. Yeah the clown in question is a maroon and he nips at me every time I put my hand in the tank now he looks right at me swims up to the Zoa's and nips at them then looks at me like haha. Always thought I would have to move the Niger trigger in that tank before any of the other fish but he seems to be best one besides he doesn't like crabs.
  23. Thanks for the post and all the advice was thinking about doing this to my trigger tank. At least only have 2 fish in that tank to move now.
