  1. Thanks Tom. I know you said brs has that sale tomorrow...but I don't see them advertising that...is it sent out via email chain or something? Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  2. Does any one know of any sale on reef crystals 200 gal box going on around nova lfs or online? Or a group by going on? Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
  3. Quick questions: - Is the entry fee same for kids? - How does swapping work? Never been to one. Is there a particular place where all the reefers swap corals? or is it something that will be done ahead of time and they just swap it at that location. It will be hard without the corals being opened at the time of swap right? So is it based on trust then?
  4. Thanks for your suggestions guys...I think I have no other option than cutting that branch. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
  5. Is there a way to avoid head on collision between Sps's next to each other as they grow? I shud have planned to have enough space between them...but didn't realise that the branches would grow that direction. I don't want to move the colonies as they both have encrusted pretty well. The only option is to frag that branch...hate doing that as I want to see it grow bigger...any other suggestions? What happens if I leave it as is...will I loose one of the them?
  6. The aquascape looks good...especially the single rock structure. I would have gone without sand if I were to start all over again.
  7. Thanks for sharing your experience. It really helps. I think I will give it a shot.
  8. Has anyone used chemiclean to get rid of red slime? I read mixed reviews on it and the claim that its safe on reef tanks. I have never used anything but RODI water, feed only once a day and dont run light for long duration of time. I think the red slime is suffocating some of the corals...siphoning is not working...have been thinking about this product...any suggestions?
  9. Looks like a dead coral skeleton like plate coral to me. Did you try brushing it off of the frag?
  10. To add to my review as a follow up...the WAV pump that was repaired and shipped back to me worked on and off (even after repair!)...it took me quite some time to figure out the problem was with the impeller not the pump itself...sadly, their QC team couldnt figure it out! When I wrote to them that the impeller had issues moving...they sent me a new one (this was the first positive response from them BTW). Since then that pump never gave up...its been more than a month that I had any issues with that particular pump and the other pump never had any issues till date. Overall, the pumps are well built...lot of wave options to chose from...less wire clutter (one wire per pump - connects directly to the EB832 bar).
  11. To be fair, the pumps are okay not bad. But the problem is the poor customer service given the size and reputation of the company. 12. I own two of them...not that happy with them or the service from the reputed company. I would rather go with Jebao PP series...good value for the price. Check this thread for my review on them. http://wamas.org/forums/topic/80231-beware-neptune-apex-warranty-policy/
  13. I asked about this...they are closed on Thanksgiving day and Friday I believe. Call them...I am sure the owner would pick it up. I dont know if they have any black friday sales...but they have very good prices for sure around this area.
  14. I have been to this store yesterday...bought an achilles tang...they have a variety of exotic fish with wide variety of sizes...got a chance to look at the piebald tang too. The owner is very responsive and a good listener.
  15. I should be available. Text me what time...you have my number Seth.
  16. Looks more like copepod or ostracod to me after spending sometime online. http://www.lionfishlair.com/hitchhikers-guide/
  17. But they were moving fast with a sudden movement...more like pods. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
  18. It came on a zoa frag...not in my tank...just came out when I dipped in coralrx Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
  19. Looks like flatworm to me...but moves little faster like a pod...not in my tank...came with a frag i just bought...what is it?
  20. Long story short...if you dont want to know the back ground...here is the summary...DONT BUY any Neptune apex products from "others"...the warranty on their products is not transferrable...they will ask for purchase proof...and as per their policy, warranty is ONLY applicable to the original buyer!!! this is true even if you buy an unopened or brand new product from any other place other than their distributors. So be aware about this policy...once you buy from someone else...its done deal...you are on your own!!! Or you lie (I am not asking you to lie...but just saying...I didn't)!!! So here is the long version...I bought the new Apex controller this summer and everything seems to be okay except for the fusion connectivity...its flaky and needs a reboot time to time. But most of my experience has been okay. So as I needed to upgrade my pumps, I was debating between Vortech's and WAV's. Since I already had Apex controller, I thought I would give it a try. Bought a brand new un-opened WAV started kit recently on this forum from a fellow reefer who won it at MACNA last month...within a week, one of the WAV pump gave up...called the customer service and was told that no appointment was available for them to troubleshoot the unit...so had to wait two days...after two days...they tried some basic checks and told me that it might have an issue...created an RMA and asked me to ship it back to them. As part of filling out the RMA, they asked me the proof of purchase, I told them that I bought it new from a fellow reefer who had won it at MACNA....then the problem started...first thing they told me was to point me to their warranty policy highlighting the fine print that basically said...warranty will be void if you purchase it from someone else other than their distributors!!! I was shocked...it was a week old pump...all the Apex crap is very expensive stuff...to begin with I was very disappointed that I chose to go with Apex...should have gone with vortech's. Anyway, after some argument with the customer service guy...he says he will see what he can do...as if they are doing a favor on a "Week old brand new Apex WAV pump" which quit working...why do I have to deal with this??? Could not blame myself enough...so I took all the abuse for being Apex customer...and they started to sound like they are doing favor to me by making an exception...finally they sent me an RMA and told me that they will see what they can do. So here is what I had to deal with for purchasing a brand new Apex WAV pump from a fellow reefer instead of a Neptune distributor just to save few bucks...what a mistake!!! 1. Pay for shipping to send a brand new WAV pump back to Neptune...additional cost. 2. Ordered two Jebao's...additional cost....as I didn't want to wait for 2 weeks with just one pump...when asked what will happen to my tank...the Neptune rep told me "your tank will have one pump"!!! So they didn't care....they are like "deal with it - this is what you get when you buy our products". 3. They took 2 days to test and repair the unit and shipped it back to me via the "lowest shipping method possible"...which basically took over a week for me to receive it. What kind of customer service is this!!! Why do we have to deal with companies like this in our hobby? I had enough of this...as is this hobby is quite expensive...you plan and save and buy something good expecting it to be very high end and perform better...then you get treated like this. Its horrible experience.
  21. I have a small pump in the return section right now...its been a week...atleast I dont see buildup in the sump area like before.
  22. You think kalk is the culprit here? I use kalk mainly to maintain the pH and 2-part for maintaining Alk and Ca levels.
  23. I think dosing over high flow is the key...I don't have that kind of flow in my sump...yesterday I put a small pump in the return section of my sump where I am dosing...so far no deposits...will have to wait and see. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
  24. I have been dosing 2 part and kalk ato for close to 6 months now...I see calcium build up on my equipment...first my skimmer pump quit...I had to replace it then my return pump and recently my wavemaker. In my previous tank I never had to dose anything as the corals were thriving with regular water changes...and the equipment lasted longer. Now that I have bigger tank, I have no other way other than dosing to keep up with the coral demands...Is anyone having similar issues with dosing and equipment failures? If so, how often do you clean your equipment...like the pumps, overflow drains etc.
