  1. I have small frag of pocci you can have for free and see if your tank is ready for sps. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
  2. I ordered a 5lbs of both the chemicals today from DFS. Couldnt resist the 25% MACNA coupon posted on this forum...Will keep you posted if anything goes wrong. Thanks.
  3. I have never used anything other than BRS for supplements...for the first time I wanted to try 2 Part from DFS. Anyone used their 2 part? Any suggestions or comments?
  4. I have two of them (Tech LED's not the XHO's) on either side of my ATI unit...they are very bright...for the shallow tank like yours (same as mine), the Tech LED's should be enough IMO. I like the pop in the LPS under these lights. Didn't have any power supply issues in my case so far. You are welcome to stop by anytime to check them out.
  5. I went past all these hurdles...finally I managed to set it up on the controller itself...its tedious...but got the job done. Also, the NET module has an option to access the controller via a web service...again not that useful but does give you an interesting UI.
  6. Yes...seems like red flatworms...you could try flatworm exit or some of the wrasse are known to eat them. If they are only in your sump then you could use flatworm exit...best route imo. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
  7. Oh...the NET module...you are right! I was looking for one for weeks now. But I heard some bad reviews on it...so was thinking of going with Apex. I hear a lot of people are saying that there no compelling reason to upgrade to new Apex when you already have one...but for people like me who dont have...will it make sense spending another 200 bucks on the newer model.
  8. I never had an Apex before...but planning to buy one...should I preorder a new one or buy an old model for a nice deal? What are some of the new features that are in the new model that are worth compared to existing? I like ReefKeeper but I really want some notification feature like Apex Fusion thats not available on RK.
  9. Sorry...that I cannot suggest...may be let it move away...not sure how...perhaps high flow...like we do for anemones...
  10. No...no hot water on corals...they will get hurt too...you have to target only aiptasia...no other corals or fish...they will die. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
  11. As far as I know...you want to get rid of them asap once you see them they are not corals...they are not good for your tank. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
  12. You mean other corals? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
  13. If you have only few...you could squirt some hot water using a syringe to get rid of them...if you have a lot I am not sure...may be some one else can direct you...I had one on a coral I bought on this forum...it was gone with the above trick. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
  14. Thats really bad...you should challenge them if they had asked for an ID before giving your order to someone else! For that matter...when I picked it up in South manassas area store...they brought my order from inside not from the store shelf. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
  15. Got 2 from a local store. Thanks guys! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
  16. Tried the ice pack...good idea on the ziplock bag full of ice.
  17. So I never had a nano in summer...last winter I had setup my first 24 nano and had no clue (or didn't foresee...) what a hot day can do to a small tank...yesterday evening I saw my corals didn't open up as they usually do and I thought something was wrong with my water parameters...waited another hr or so and noticed that all of them were unusually retracted and all my soft corals were struggling...then it occurred to me...immediately checked the temperature (I dont have a controller on that tank...thought didn't need it...but now considering one) and found that it was 86+ degrees!!! Didn't know what to do...turned off the heater and lights...luckily had 2.5 gallons of fresh saltwater...did a water change...but still didn't make much of a difference...the temp came down to 84F and hovered around that for some time...I had no option other than increasing the AC and picking up couple of ice packs that I had in my fridge and dumping them in the sump part of the tank...slowly the temp came down to 83F. Meanwhile I filled up couple of bottles of tank water and put it in fridge...for the next few hrs...I repeated this and finally before I went to bed the temp came down to 81. I couldnt do much...this morning I woke up and found the temp to be 79F. Now I am worried about the corals...they dont seem that happy and my fish seem okay but not sure...this was a lesson learned in a very hard way. Are there any chillers for the nano's...saw a couple like IceProbe...but they dont seem to do much just few degrees below the room temp...and that too drill a hole in the tank!!! Any other ideas to bring the temp down or control it in hot days?
  18. Sorry about your fish...check this link out. Never trust any one when it comes to buying fish from online or local stores...best route imo is to prophylactically treat all the new fish before putting them into your DT. Prazipro, Maracyn 2 and Chloroquine phosphate worked great for me. The mistake I made was I tried to QT lot of fish at the same time...in the process lost quite a few...but its all lessons learned at the end of the day. Good luck! http://www.advancedaquarist.com/blog/quarantining-marine-fish-made-simple
  19. I actually didn't think that much...but you do have a good point...so far no issues with my setup. Keep me posted of you find some waterproof socket. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
