  1. Haha I would if I didn't have to worry about the sudden punch in the head syndrome my girlfriend will develop if he's gone. He's easily her favorite fish, she loves the crazy antics and I can't lie, I do too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Also, he tends to change colors depending on mood. Sometimes he's all black with white dots, sometimes he's the color in pictures. Haven't quite figured out what the trigger for it is yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I'd believe it if I saw him ever eat anything resembling algae. He destroys any food that I feed the tank, but doesn't pick on any algae. As in I've never seen him even bother in the entire time I've had him. And there's plenty of it to go around. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I've seen these a couple times in tanks and they look pretty great. Looks like amazon has them but for entirely too much money. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I got sold this fish at a Petco about 2 months ago as a "sand sifting goby". It's not one of those. I knew than then and I know it now, but it was only $3 so I didn't ask questions. My closest guess would be a starry blenny? But the coloration seems off. This guy doesn't touch algae at all. And wigs out all over the tank. He's either not moving or going 100mph. 6. Thanks for the offer! I think not.. For now. If something goes horribly wrong and I need to keep them in the tub for an extended period, I'll take you up on that offer though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Well, I'm going to get them in the tub on Sunday morning. Then move the tank and hopefully have them back in the tank on Sunday night. I was going to put them in there on Saturday morning instead, but I worry that the sand bed that's going to be staying in the tank for the move will die out in a day and a half of no heat or water movement. 8. Ok.. I'll stop freaking out about the poor fishies. Almost all of my live rock will go into that tub, and the process should take no longer than half an hour.
  9. I wish I could come by and help this sunday, but I'm actually trying to organize some people together to help me move my tank a couple feet and I'll be busy fixing all the plumbing and putting all my rock/livestock back. If somehow that ends early, I'll swing by and try to help out.
  10. Also, I'll be setting up the skimmer to be used with the new sump and new tank location so while I can set it up on the tub, the amount of work to get it in place and then to just take it off again the next day seems .. inefficient for lack of a better word. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. External skimmer, mtc hsa 2000. Thing is it takes an iwaki 55rlt to run it. If I put the skimmer intake in the tub, I'd probably end up with all my fish and inverts either stuck to the intake or as processed minced skimmed seafood. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. That's what I was figuring. Just wasn't sure if there could be problems with oxygen exchange or nutrients without having the skimmer and sump.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. But I'll stop worrying now haha. Seems terrifying to put all my livestock into a bin and hope it does well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. That actually is way longer than I was planning on having them in there. Ideally they'd only be in there for a day or so. Maybe 2. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I'm going to be moving a lot of my live rock and all the fish/inverts to a 110g tub. Currently the plan is to just have them in there along with a heater, one or two wave makers and a light. My question is, how long can I keep them in there without real issues? I don't have a skimmer to hook up to the tub or any way of having a sump attached to it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Yeah. I've considered most of it. It's impossible to catch him with a net. Drain method will have to do. Thankfully I have enough tubs and containers to put 200 gallons of water in since I'll be draining the tank soon. And hopefully everything survives until tomorrow when I can actually try to get this done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I could put the YT in the fuge for the time being. But how do I catch him? Seems that I'll be breaking down the whole tank just to get him out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I recently added 3 lyretail anthias to my tank and ever since then the yellow tang has gone nuts. He dive bombs all the fish in there and is just overall going crazy. This has kept on for 3 days now. I'm not sure what to do. I've thought of rearranging all the rock work, but would rather not since I'll be removing all the rock and fish to a holding tank for a day in the very near future (probably in a week). I'm thinking he will stop once that happens and he goes back to a very different looking environment, but I'm getting a little worried. Catching him would be.. Problematic to say the least. Any suggestions? He does stop to eat and hides at night but I'm kind of tired of turning the lights off every time he decides to go crazy again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Thanks for having me. It was great to see all of it. Sure couldn't wrap my head around it before and I think I'm still fuzzy on some details. Here's a picture that R took. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I'm surprised at how little salt I go through. However, I don't do nearly as many water changes as seems to be the standard. But definitely keep an eye on the forums, salt group buys and QR's sales are great. Buy a few boxes and you'll be set until you see another one pop up. I wouldn't expect to pay more than $35 for IO and $50 for RC with this strategy
  21. Well, I wanna see you eat a worm. So yes. It will color up.
  22. Cloudy setting eh? I may have to try that. I think I've tried every setting my camera has, including the manual and trying every type of white balance I could think of. It's a Nikon D60 with a 18-55 lens. I have a 55-200 lens as well, but the aperture on it is pretty high and it just doesnt let me take the photo if something is moving..
  23. i wonder if in a commercial setting like that, they just replace the fish as they die... sad really
  24. usually when big round tanks like that are built out of acrylic, they're two half circle halves that are sealed together. By the looks of the water coming out, it seems that one of those seams failed..
  25. your photos made me go over the whole tank and try to take some close up shots of all of my corals too haha. I don't think my lens is quite equipped to handle that kind of macro, but I did fairly decent. The only thing I'm failing at is getting it to take any kind of picture under all blue light. I've played with every setting I can think of and it's just not doing it.
