  1. Wow and no broken glass! That is quite the feat to move the rock and then keep the coral in the tank.
  2. I can't believe Rob forgot the one ingredient that adds a little something extra to the recipe........You need to Pee in the tank to get it cycling!!!!!
  3. +1 if you have overlap you can move all the things your wife thinks are important and do the tank last. Have water made, and you should be able to do it in a day if you are only 10 min away. You will have tons of new expenses with a new home and throwing a new tank in the mix might be a problem IMO. If not, sell everything that would not transfer from a 180 to 300 equipment wise and keep the items you could use on the 300 build. No overlap.....sell everything that would not transfer from a 180 to 300 equipment wise and keep the items you could use on the 300 build.
  4. Not sure how much this thing ways bu the spot price of gold is at $1,199.93 per oz. Hope you are not factoring in the plug weight! Both are very beautiful, I am always worried about the amazing pictures and how a really good photographer can make the ordinary extraordinary!
  5. I bet your new neighbors below you are happy. Was not a big deal if you flood the place being on the first floor
  6. Better to flood with fresh then salt.... That would be a shallow pool. You could always hang 400W MH for some sun
  7. I am not an electrician, but if you switch out the breaker to a GFI breaker then the entire line is covered. GFI's are notorious for being bad straight from the manufacturer. The more they trip, the more sensitive they become and tend to trip more after that, so watch out.
  8. LOL, yea the purpose of sealing the room is to keep the water in that room...not to keep it out and flood the rest of the basement........But of course you have your screen name which is a bad omen Good Luck, remind her it is fresh water and you planned this to actually clean the floor!
  9. After running through your pics, it doesn't look like you have any drain lines in the area. You have the sump in the back left corner if you are facing the tank....So not an easy option. One thing you still could do is to build up a threshold to the fish room and use granite. If you make it 1" high it could hold maybe 60g of water on the floor, if you area is approx 16'x 6' x 1" deep (just guessing based on what I see. Then still seal the room.
  10. Been there....Now is the time to cut that floor open and add a strip drain in your fish room. Then seal all the bottom plates with layers of liquid nails and silicone. This was the biggest fear I had when I built my fish room, water getting out. Now I just casually throw around gallons of water and could care less if I spill. I can even hose down the floor.
  11. Coral Hind- Wow great info, thanks! Was not really planning on breeding them, I was just wanting to have them live in the smae tank together without killing each other If down the road they are laying eggs nonstop and I have the time, I might reevaluate it, or see if someone else wants to try and raise some Lightning eggs on a tile.
  12. Welcome and thanks for joining! Look around through the site, tons of info, I have learned more information here then anywhere else.
  13. I was curious what height people keep their T5 lights over the water surface. How are yours set up? I know this will depend on: -How many bulbs? (1-8) -What are you keeping? SPS, LPS, Mixed? -Depth of the tank? 10"- 36"+ -Any other lights? LED, MH, VHO? I have seen everything from 4" to 36".......
