  1. I have a 120g well established tank that i need to move from its current location to the other corner which is about 5 feet. I need some suggestions and guidance on how to go about it. The tank has rock structure with corals which i cant take off but i can pull those rock pieces out if needed. I was thinking about removing the plumbing, draining the sump and tank. Im sure ill have to take the tank off the stand to avoid breaking the stand which means the water and rock needs to come out as well. I can put all the lps and softies in a small holding tank but im hoping the sps will do okay staying out of water for the time i move the tank and refill it. This will be done tonight so please let me know what experience you have moving thanks. I really dont hope to disturb too much in regards to redoing everything.
  2. I was cleaning a few pumps and left this in a bucket of vinegar and forgot about it. A week later, this is what was left of it. It's been a year since, I haven't touched it. I plugged it in today out of water to see if it works and it does. Would this be too dangerous to put in a tank or water for that matter?
  3. hahah i absolutely love this.
  4. Dave, do these anemones stay put easy or like to move around like the rbtas
  5. I want them haha. Very cool. What are they called?
  6. My foxface did that in my 55gal with a huge xenia colony. It wouldn't host on it like clowns normally host on things, but definitely enough for me to see that the fish has some interest in that coral.
  7. I get the same brown slime on the sides of the trashcan. I normally have to clean it once a month before it gets bad. But then again, I mix my water right next to the tank, so I think the light from the tank helps with the slime buildup.
  8. I was about to Google search it... Jk.. Or am I?
  9. I normally get my bulbs from reefgeek
  10. I'm interested in these black worms as fish food. Centerville is quiet a distance from me. Anyone know of any lfs who carries them in md?
  11. Depending on what exactly that coral looks like. Most of the time, white tips are the signs or coral growing. As stated above. Edit: looks like the coral has lost some flesh there. Hmm
  12. Check and see if the tube that pulls air in isn't closed up. I was having the same problem and found out that the air tube was clogged up from inside. Cleaned it up and now it's working perfectly fine.
  13. I bought the BRS 2 part calcium and alkalinity about a year ago and didnt really use it. It came with the 1 gallon of calcium, kalk, alk, and meg. I just took them out and they were clumped together. I gave it a good shake and broke it up. Is it safe to use it in the tank?
  14. Here is my order: This all is one order, just want them bagged separately, if possible. Blue- X1 Green - X1 Yellow/Gold - X1 Pink- X1 Orange- X1 Rainbow- X1 --------------- Blue- X2 Green- X1 Yellow/Gold- X2 Pink- X1 Orange- X2 Rainbow- X2 Interested in more information on the anemone
  15. Check out the prices on reefcleaners and compare them to your localFS> Its probably a big difference. They drop the package off infront of your door and you can pick it up when you get back. They sails will be fine.
  16. Snails will take care of it all for the most part. Many reefers avoid hermits. They are wonderful critters but it become conflicting when adding them with snails. There is no doubt in mind that they will kill your snails. But i will tell you what youve heard many times and will continue to hear it. CUC can only do to much, they are benificial for keeping a system stable from nuisance algae but wont help much with majoy algae outbreaks due to other problems such as bad water, phospates, nitrates, etc.
  17. I ordered my cuc from Reefcleaners for my 120 not too long ago and they accidently sent me a hermit which was hiding in a snail she'll. The hermit started attacking the snails as soon as I put them in the tank. I threw the sucker in the sump.
  18. Reefcleaners can make you a good pack for your setup. The prices are also very fair. I've always gotten my cuc from them. It will also depends on what you're planning to keep. Sand bed or bb? Look into the Florida cerith, nerite, turbo (the can knock corals off at times but great algae eaters), nassarius (if you have a sand bed). You can also add hermits but I personally keep away from hermits because they eat my snails.
  19. Cheesy video but i figured id share. http://news.yahoo.com/video/18-old-fish-survives-six-223609417.html
  20. I am having a bit of an algae problem. With some brown algae on sand and rocks, I also see a lot of black colored alage. What is that? What causes it? I just did a wc and will be doing them more often, as well as run carbon. Heres a pic http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/5633/2012042423485219.jpg
