  1. Anyone run or know of anyone who runs a zeovit tank? I really want to see one in person :p
  2. im looking for the phoenix 250w 14k bulb.. does any LFS keep it?
  3. well he has this fixture and it has 4 t5's built in it. If he can get away with 14k and the t5's can help with the color would that help? so what im understanding is that the lower the kelvin number, the more yellowish color it is and it gives you more growth? could he go 10k with the t5's or would that be too yellow? 14k can also work.. i would like to see some pics haha.
  4. I have a MH fixture laying around with very old bulbs. My friend wanted to use it for his 90gal which would be mostly sps. Now, i dont know which bulbs to get. It currently has 2x HIT 250w 1400k bulbs. which bulbs should he go for? im not sure if 1400k is better then 1000k, 1500k or 20000k.. which are better for growth? also, i know there are bulbs that have the blueish color to it. which ones are those? overall, what are considered good MH bulbs and how often do MH bulbs need to be replaced? Thanks!
  5. idk if this is a good idea or not. I had a problem with this.. some of the algae was on a small piece of rock. I took the rock out, put it under hot tap water and let it sit for 5-10 mins. I put it back in the tank, the next morning it was all white and then went away.
  6. very nice. I recently purchased a canon vixia HFs100. Haven put it to a test yet tho. im pretty sure you have answered this question already but, how much was the fixture? if it DIY?
  7. amazing video, beautiful tank. what camera is it?
  8. oh thats very interesting rock right there..
  9. before i get any fish i try to do as much research as possible to make sure i can care for it. What is the difference between reef safe and not reef safe and "add with caution"? I see people who keep the angles, triggers, butterflies in their tanks full of corals of all verities. Now are these coral eating fish or just the ones that eat inverts? i would love to keep one of these as long as they dont eat corals.
  10. been using IO since in the hobby.
  11. wow very spacious. looks great!
  12. i went to different hardware stores lookign for bulkheads.. no luck. found something very similar but had threads on the inside the the pvc pipe inside the overflow wont fit it in. the only option is to find it locally if im lucky.
  13. i am in the process of upgrading from a 55 to 90. all my corals and fish are in temporary buckets. while moving the tank, i accidentally broke one of the overflow pipes.. how i want to get this stuff replaced today so i can set up the tank b4 i lose any livestock.. how do i take this part out? where can i get a replacement? would local fish stores would have it?
  14. how much did this fixture cost you? is it a DIY? WHat size tank is it? If i plan to go led on my 90 in the future, how many bulbs am i looking at? finally, how much do you think it would be?
  15. is that a store or a museum kind of thing? im looking for a marine museum, somewhere you can spend a day or half a day. ill be going with a really big group of people, including kids. I was looking into the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center. Is that worth it?
  16. I am making a trip with Family to VA for the weekend. I know there is the Baltimore Aquarium, but iv seen that many times. is there an aquarium thats actually worth seeing in Virginia or near area? is it better then the one in baltimore?
  17. well i am impressed with reviews on both. I might try both, vortech on 90 and tunez on the other tank. For a 90 gal, if the mp40 is too much, would it be better with mp10's? or mp20's? rather then 3 mp10's, how about 2 mp20's?
  18. Which tunze pumps will be comparative with the mp40? I'm trying to see the price difference.
  19. well i should have mentioned; what would be the best for its price? if tunze is cheaper, would it give me the same benefits as the vortech that is twice as much? i rather buy used vortechs and try to save some then buying new one.
  20. Gathering all the equipment for the new 90 spa mostly tank that ill be starting soon. Now,I have been debating the equipment for flow. First it was between hydro and runs but rather then wasting money now, I rather save up for something good. What would make me and my sps happy? I can get 2 mp20s, 2 mp40s or tunz. Which would be preferred for 90?
  21. sad to hear you breaking the big one down. well, first off, are you going to keep the new tank at the same location as this one? One thing you could do is set the hex up and let it run for a little, then transfer what you need from the 120 and sell/donate what other you have left. This way the corals and fish wont be stressed that much. That was just a general suggestion/way to do it. Im sure someone can go in great detail with it Good luck with the new tank and if you decide to sell, im setting up a 90gal so im looking for some stuff to populate the tank with Good Luck
  22. wow thats just crazy! love it!! i wanna go and cherry pick one :p
  23. What would be considered good flow for a 90gal sps/lps dominated tank? I am in the process of setting one up and wanted to know what equipment would be necessary. I was thinking about 2x Tunze Turbelle nanostream 6045(Flow rate: 4,500 l/h (1,189 US gal./h), and the return flow from the sump is from a mag7 Is this enough or any better ones? Thanks
