lol, someone is a bit sensitive today.
If you read the May TOTM post, there is an explanation as to why the same person was listed twice. http://www.wamas.org/forums/topic/36956-congratulations-chris-mahoney-big-mahoney-phisigs79/
I had been using the JBJ Water Weld after the Aquamend was discontinued...but won't any more.
The batch I bought last week must have had a different mix. The putty ended up becoming unworkable and breaking apart in small chunks.
I ended up stopping at Aquarium one and getting a tube of the 2 Litlle Fishes brand. The tube is twice the size of the aquamend or Water Weld and cost about $19, so it wasn't bad considering you get twice the product.
it can also be the personality of zoas.
Mine are under metal halides and there are some stretched out right next to another type that is flat to the rock.
Congratulations to OUsnakebyte(Mike Henley) on being the winner of the May 2010 POTM.
The subject was invertebrates
Thank you to all that participated, we had many excellent pictures to choose from.
No calcium deposits, but there was a thick sime coating and a bunch of small things(chaeto, pvc shaving, etc...) blocking the holes in the impeller fan, so there was a lot less water getting pushed through.
15 minutes of maintenance just saved me from having to put $400 into a chiller.
Lately my tank temps had been rising, and had figured it was due to the weather changing. 84 during the day was becoming the norm and there was only a little drop at night. The assumption was that the acrylic was holding in the heat from the lights.
I did an experiment and kept my MH lighting off for 2 days and only let the actinics cycle as usual. There was no real change in the temps
Turns out it was the pump for my closed loop.
15 minutes worth of cleaning and the pump is running much cooler and the tank has been staying at around 79
Guess I need to be checking my pumps more often.
