  1. we have a kessil 150 you can use temporarily until you get new ones. Give Vince a ring tomorrow or swing by the store. I'll give him a heads up
  2. i'll see if i can get a video of it in action tonight... but here's a random one on youtube from someone that used them... that's the video that led me to get them in and test them out. It has officially earned the QR seal of approval only question is longevity... so we'll see about that
  3. by the way, last night, i used it to siphon all the sand, and debris and empty hermit shells (small ones) and it worked very well without any issues to the impeller... the bag does fill up fast though if you have a lot of stuff, but it is very easy to remove and empty comparing this to the Eheim version, which is about 5 times more expensive, this works very well and traps fine debris as well... the eheim one just ends up clouding your tank be releasing everything through the bag
  4. you are correct Tom. Vince found this out and basically trashed the first unit... so we got some more in :-) The siphon tube can be extended to accommodate 24 inch tanks, and a bit more i believe.
  5. yep.. it does all of that... you can use the bag or take the attachment off and hook up vinyl tubing to siphon stuff out. based on your initial question, this is perfect for you as it would allow you to siphon up uneaten food or debris without the need to loose any water. You can also use to suck out water, i.e., water change with tube adapter...
  6. Welcome aboard Kyle. it's about time you posted something .
  7. Alan... we ordered some in last week and this is now my favorite piece of equipment in the store... it is so easy to use and the picks up all the uneaten food and debris into the nylon bag and the water comes right back out to your tank. Works really well. makes cleaning the tank so easy, especially bare bottom tanks without the need to do unwanted water changes. http://www.quantumreefs.com/TOM-Mr-Cleaner-Siphon_p_47586.html
  8. this made my night... good for you. come back with guns blazing Don't worry about it.. this is normal behavior... just keep an eye out the next few days... as Evans indicates, just watch for really aggressive behavior from the larger one... and keep an eye out for the fins and such of the smaller guy and make sure that it's eating. If you see it nipped or beat up, catch and bring it in so that we can ensure it's recovery... otherwise, enjoy and watch nature in action.
  9. Welcome to the area and thanks for stopping by. Unfortunately, I wasn't there to meet with you but I'm sure Vince was able to assist. Took a look at your build thread and it is very impressive and seems to be coming along very nicely. Prices on the corals depends on where they are from... fortunately, you have the benefit of living in CA... which is the main entry point for most anything reef related, thus I'm sure prices over there are much better than here on the east coast since most items here are either shipped, air freight, or long road trips to collect. If you are still in town this weekend, stop by again... we've got over 100 coral frags shipping out today from ORA and a bunch others from other suppliers... now... just gotta figure out how we're gonna fit it all in . Ask for Steve when you get there and I'll make sure to give a nice out of towner package. If you're still here on the 5th of October, we will be hosting a WAMAS social at the store. Expect lots of livestock and corals for this event and some really nice deals to be had. Vince and I are still planning out the event so look at our thread under the vendors section for news and updates leading up to the event.
  10. What's a weekend without something special going on here at QR... this week... well... thought I'd do something nice (for a change ) I got in several hundred small blue hermit crabs... soooooo... what's the catch? Notta... zip... zilch... all you have to do is come in.... no purchase necessary... obviously, we can't give you all of them... so... limit 10 per party. Hurry before we give them all away :-)
  11. you will be fine with that list. 2 clowns for chromis, either green or the blue reef chromis ... you want odd numbers... wierd, but odd numbers always works better with them... so 3 should be fine 1 clown yellow or citron goby. If you get a yellow clown, you might want to get another watchman goby such as a randalls or yasha since you don't want 2 yellow fish I'm not much for peppermint shrimps.. i like the redness of a blood fire shrimp or a skunk cleaner shrimp. I'd recommend a skunk cleaner since they are cool and also will help clean your fish if you want a tang... go for it... start really small... like a tiny or x-small size... as it grows, either sell it or bring it in to exchange for small one... but based on what I see, you'll be upgrading to a much larger tank within a year and you can then transfer them to the larger tank. if you want damsels... go with talbots or kupang damsels... they are not as aggressive as others... pretty tame in my opinion take it slow and just be aware that your initial list might change based on how you see your tank developing.
  12. Pics are a bit fuzzy... But looks like mojanos.... Are you able to get a clearer pic?
  13. Jenn... you are absolutely correct on his intentions. I've been trying to get him to come in for over a week now and finally was able to sit down with him this evening. He is not rushing into anything but merely asking questions. He doesn't understand the hobby, thus asking questions, and when he gets an answer, he poses it as another question. I think the misunderstanding is that through his curiosity to understand better, he is blasting out questions left and right, which makes one think that he is doing those things or that he's going to fast. Starting a question of with "can I" usually indicates you want to or have done so... once I pointed that out, he totally understand where folks may have misinterpreted his intentions. He's a really nice guy trying to learn the hobby and relying on WAMAS to provide that. It's like a kid that is really excited about something and asking a million and one questions. Now that we have a better understanding, he's promised to lay low on the questions a bit and do more research but he is by no means rushing into things. We have made ourselves available to him should he have any further questions so that should take some load off of everyone
  14. ok.. here is the massive list of livestock we currently have in stock. Please note quantity, gender, size on hand. This is a static file so you can go to http://www.quantumreefs.com and select the fish to get real time inventory. This weekend, 20% off all fish... if it has gills, fins, swims.. it's 20% off... Halloween Hermit Crabs: 50% off we need a big weekend from you guys so that we can continue getting all the highend stuff that you've been so accustomed to from us. You can see some WYSIWYG pictures of the livestock in this post: http://wamas.org/forums/topic/60030-hey-quantum/ We also have fresh shipment of macro algae arrive yesterday: cheato, gracellaria, ULVA and fresh batches of Tisbe Pods. 16. We're in Springfield, if you want, bring him over and we'll put him in one of our nano tanks until your tank stabilizes. Also, plan on spending some time at the store... we'll go over with you the basics of starting up a saltwater tank and put together an action plan for you.
  17. thanks all for the vote of confidence. I normally don't comment on these vendor experience forums... but seeing someone going from low to high and seeing folks speak out on our behalf... It makes all the long hours and hard work that we do worthwhile... now, if i can only convince my wife of this . i'm sure she's tired of me coming home at 1am in the morning... such as tonight, from a long day at the shop. Hope to see everyone this weekend... i was too tired to take any pictures... but imagine this.. we have over a hundred frags of euphyllia of all sorts.. and that's just a quarter of one of our 4 frag tanks...
  18. cause if you're not, you are going to be missing one heck of a weekend here. We've got boxes laying around all over the place... deliveries coming in.. yeah, Vince hates me right now... but that's all good cause we will be prepared for this Labor Day weekend... so bring it on.... We're doing something unorthodox this weekend... instead of posting sales and such, we figured we'd just wing it. As some of you know, we just love it when folks come in our store (obviously )... and do try to do what we can to reward folks for their patronage and taking the time out of their day to stop by. So, we'll be doing multiple specials throughout the weekend. I will post them here on this thread and the specials will last for about 5 hours or until we sell out of the particular item. If you're in the store at that moment, great and you can take immediate advantage. If you are not in the store, you have that time frame to come in. Please note that these specials will not be available on our website and we will not hold or reserve anything for anyone. This would not be fair for those folks whom come to the store. If this does work out, perhaps we'll do more stuff like this in the future, except make it available for anyone. First List of specials will be posted at about 8am-9am tomorrow morning so that you should give you ample time to prep for your road trip here. so check back often or subscribe to this thread so that you get notifications when I make changes and highlight new specials. Massive amount of livestock right now... really, take a look at the stocklist below and the quantity on hand... We hare our Salt sale this weekend on Reef Cyrstals and Instant Ocean 200 gallon mix boxes (we have about 40 boxes of each on hand, so plenty in stock). Oh, if you like gold torches... i would suggest you come in..., Yellow fluorescent hammers, toxic hammers, ultra grade scolys, aussie bright green stemed duncans, sps montis and other frags... Please note that quantity on hand is based on current stock. We have real time inventory enabled on our website so you can see if they are still available or not before coming to the store. 19. so, after a week of having this hooked up.. i must say... wow... very impressed. We have it hooked up to an Aqualifter pump and it keeps it precise... you can use the two sensors to basically be within millimeters of one another.. and it keeps it at that level... stable... The magnet sensors are very easy to position as well. So far, give it an A+. As far as the cost, it is expensive at $200, but I can honestly say that this thing is so much more precise and easier to use that the Tunze Osmolator which is priced the same. It doesn't come with the pump though since Innovative Marine sells the small thin pump separately ($100). For a nano where space is limited, you might want to get both but this ATO can fit just about anywhere since the sensors are so small. We currently have it on our display tank at the store so if you want to come by and see it in action so you can make the judgement call for youself. The Avast ATO is still a great value at $89 though and works very, very reliably. I've had one running on my personal tank since it was first introduced a few years ago and still no issue. In the end, it's up to you what you think works better in your situation and what your budget allows.
  20. You got it . Just posted the sale as you requested
  21. At QR, we spare no expense to get you the widest selection of corals, fish and inverts every week... This weekend is no different. Another week of 15 boxes of livestock here at QR. Not sure about pricing? Check our website at http://www.quantumreefs.com. We list all items and pricing on the site. We're also in the process of implementing real time inventory so that you don't have to guess what we have in stock. All inventory for livestock are up to date and available in real time. Our POS system in the store is linked to the online website so it will subtract if purchased or add if we get more inventory. We realize that some folks are coming to us for a good distance so check our website out and you can see exactly how many we have in stock of any item. This is a fully functional website using a Secure payment gateway so you can make a purchase right from the comfort of your own home (or on the road if using a mobile device). This way, you can plan your trips better. Dry Goods and Equipment inventory should be finalized and uploaded this weekend. We are continually adding more and more items to our shelves as we discover (and validate) new products based on industry changes and customer requests. It is no doubt that store shelf is limited and we want to make sure we stock only the best products that we are confident in recommending. We work hard to stock our shelves with dry goods and equipment that you will not find at any other local store. New Items that we are currently testing: Innovative Marine Hydrofill ATO, New Era Food, T.M.C. Gamma frozen foods, Reef Pearls. All items that pass our rigorous test will get the QR Seal of Approval (shelf space in our store and highlighted on our website) New products that we will begin stocking on our shelves in the next week or two: Korallin Zucht Zeovit Line - we've heard from several customers that they are using or are interested in using this method on their tanks and so we're working with the U.S. distributor right now to get the product line in New Era Food - Although new to the U.S. Market, New Era has been around for quite some time in the European market. We have some samples of their food and it's simply amazing how much the fish go crazy over this stuff. Live Food - We will have available live mysids shrimps, live blackworms, live ghost shrimp and live brine shrimp available for sale. if you've got a finicky eater that won't eat frozen or prepared food (yet), we'll have you covered. In the next week or two, we will begin constructing our planted tank freshwater section. We will be carrying higher end freshwater fish and inverts as well as hard to get plants. I've always had a passion for planted tanks and so couldn't resist the urge to get this up and running in the store. No goldfish, platys cichlids, etc (although we can get them if you need us to). We will be stocking neon tetras, anglefish, freshwater shrimps and Hans Discusses. Thanks everyone for your continued support everyone. With your support, we will work even harder to ensure we continue to provide top quality products and livestock along with great customer service on a continuous basis Our Livestock list and sale for this week can be located here on our website. http://www.quantumreefs.com/Stock-List-This-Week_ep_52.html
  22. apparently, disgruntled RLSS pump purchaser, may have gotten a dud... when they offered to refund or exchange the pump, he didn't find that solution enough... so and so on.. don't want to put too much more info since this is all hearsay...
  23. I asked our distributor about this and there's a whole story about this guy. Never ceases to amaze me the types of folks out there.
