  1. There is a very thin layer of algae on the glass, you can see it better on the second pic. I havent cleaned it lately, leaving some food for my mexican turbo snails. They cleared my tank so fast of all my hair algae, Im wondering if they are gonna have enough to eat.
  2. OK to start off with I am very bored. I think I've read every post on the site a few times already this weekend, the boards seem kinda slow lately. So I thought I'd share a few pics, I caught a few pics of my hermit crabs climbing the the back glass of my tank, yes I said the glass, here's the proof and another one, different crab btw.....
  3. link doesnt work for me WORKING NOW
  4. Steve My 72 Bowfront Fuji Finepix Z33 WP New Zoas I just picked up from Mr. Coral a few days ago. This was taken with my new water proof camera, its great for taking really up close shots, and you dont have to worry about shooting thru the glass.
  5. Well you already posted your entry for POTM, but I thought I would chime in anyways, maybe this will help some other people. This is what I used to do... With my camera that I use, sony cybershot h10, it comes with a bunch of preset scences for different situations. I took a bunch of pics with all the different ones, found the one that looks best then started taking pics in manual mode tweaking the settings. Usually after a couple hundred shots I find 1 or 2 that look pretty good Thanks for your entry in POTM
  6. You may enter a picture of YOUR stuff that was taken by someone else, Just please get permission from the photo taker and give them credit for taking the photo. Daniel takes alot of photos for the club. He is a great photographer, I bet he could even make my green hair algae look amazing!!!!
  7. Chris has had some very nice photos up lately, but it looks like Rob is already giving him a run for the money.
  8. SCARLET HAWKFISH. Lots of personality. Mine enjoys roaming all over the tank hiding in the rock work.
  9. Hey everyone, Great job bringing back the POTM in March. This month we would like to try to get even more members involved in submitting photos. So I have chose a relatively easy topic for you all. And The Topic Will Be.......... ACTINICS Submissions must be made by Aril 21 Photo size: 800 x 600 ONE submission per person. To be included in the voting, your submission must also have the following information: Submitters: Name, BBName Location: where it's taken (who's tank, ocean, etc) Camera Used: (if not available please say unknown) Subject: (what title/picture name/picture of
  10. Congrats Laurie, and thank you to everyone that entered and voted.
  11. Her breathing is fine, she was just as active as ever and she was eating like a pig tonight. Her side appears to be getting better but her eye still looks about the same.
  12. What's a birthday without cake!!!!
  13. She was eating normal last nite and I didn't notice any trouble breathing, but I'll check again tonite. Thanks Jon. It took me like 30 mins and about 100 pics to get a decent shot.
  14. Well I assumed it came from the frogspawn just based on the fact that appeared within a day or so of the fish hosting in it.
  15. So I added a pair a clowns to my tank that has a very nice size frogspawn in it (thank you Laurie). The clowns immediated went right to the coral and started to host in it. Something again that always amazes me in this hobby, given the fact that theses clowns are over 2 yrs old, captive bred, and have never had anything to host in before. Natural born instinct. Anyways, after a few days I noticed a wound on the female, it started out white and puffy, kinda looked like cotton. It appears to be healing but now there is another problem. Her left is all cloudy and puffy. The wound on her side didnt seem all that bad to me, but her eye has me concerned. I read Jan's post about her anthia having an eye injury, Im thinking to just let it be for a little bit and see how it gets. I dont think its ich, but I dont have any experience with marine ich. Just looking for some advice on what else to do.
  16. In all my other tanks that I have I always had astrea snails and hermits. Well I have a little bit of hair algae in my new tank and a few weeks ago I added a CUC. It consisted of Mexican Turbos, Margarita, and Nassarius snails, and a few hermits too. I have never had nassarius snails before because I used crushed coral instead of a sand substrate in my preious tanks.I just move some of my fish from another tank into this one, so now theres more to munch on then just the algae. These little guys are amazingly fun to watch at feeding time. I add a pinch of food to the tank and before any of it even starts to float thru the tank all the snails come climbing out of the sand racing all over the tank. In less then 30 seconds about 50 of them go nuts, then the hermits are soon to follow. Its nice to have some life in my tank now to look at instead of a bunch of hairy green rocks.
  17. Image 6 was a pic taken with a cell phone, the size of the pic is the size of the original.
  18. Yea, I think I'm goin to be changing them more often now. I didnt think the change was that bad tho. I use the RO water to fill my water cooler at my house. I havent noticed a change in the taste of the water.
  19. I have never heard of anyone using bleach or any chemical to clean their sand. Best suggestions Ive heard is using RO water, just keep rinsing until it runs clear. Why would you want to get rid of the fish smell???
  20. So today I got new filters for my RODI unit. My TDS started to climb a bit ( it was up to 11) and I have had the unit for about a year, so time for a change. I was amazed when I pulled the 10 micron filter out and saw how dirty it was, It was like mud. I didnt expect it to be that bad, it kinda shocked me at first. I keep my unit under the sink in the kitchen and I have all the lines and valves set up so that I dont have to pull it out to turn everything on. So I never really noticed the change of how dirty it was getting. My house is on well water and I have a pretty high TDS at the source, If i remember right, last year it was around 425 or so, and today it was reading 350. I was wondering if it looks like this because of my high TDS and what is in the source water, or does everyones eventually end up looking like this. Can you guess which is old and which is new???? Also I noticed that my color changing DI resin hasnt completely changed color. But then why is my TDS go up to 11???? -Steve
  21. Wait, Is this one of those games where you have to spot the 10 differences in the picture??? 1. Frag tray is missing ..... Good Job tho. You can prolly see the difference in person better then in the pictures, Looks like the white balance is different.
  22. Steve My 72 Bowfront Fuji Finepix Z33 WP Mexican Turbo munch'n on some algae Dont Mind The Hair Algae
  23. I agree, go thin at first. Its going to look like crap probably, but after you do the second coat it will look better. I ended up painting my back glass with latex as well, I tired the krylon fusion spray paint but it didnt work too well. I couldn't get an even coat with it, so I did the latex over top. It worked well so on the next tank I just went with the latex.
  24. No worries, once all the submissions are in there will be a new thread to vote. All the pictures will be posted there for members to look at and cast their vote. But to answer your question, instead of attaching your pics from your computer, you need to upload to a website like photobucket. Then add the link to the pic when you do your post.
  25. You have until the 21st to submit a picture. After that we will make a poll so that members can vote for a winner. We would like to have as many entries as possible. Im sure with all the rainy weather this weekend there was plenty of time to clean up your tanks. So take out your camera and show it off.
