  1. We got a little work done this weekend. Worked on the plumbing, and some lighting stuff . Here are a few pics. 6 39 watt T-5 retro for LPS frag tank 1 of the 2 UV that is going to be on the system The other is going to be a 36 watt Turbo Twist 12x Fill free to chime in on stuff you see that you like or dislike.
  2. I just hope it does a good job for the tank.
  3. I dont know a lot about ORP. Is 400 a good thing?
  4. I got a really good deal on this skimmer. It was a deal i could not pass up. It is a exact replica of the E.T.S.S. 1800. It will handle 800 to 900 gal.. I did a little research on the E.T.S.S. before purchasing this one. Has anyone used downdraft skimmers, if so how did you like it. This one has 4 down drafts, it will be running off of the Tiger Shark manifold so i can give it plenty of flow. here is a couple of pics. I still need to give it a vinegar bath.
  5. Look me up when you need to replace anything. Sorry to hear about this.
  6. Its been a few days since we have been able to do anything to the room. Anna has had a pretty rough time the past week and a half. She wanted to try to get some stuff done today so we worked on getting some of the lighting hung. Here is a few pics. We replaced some stop light at work. I decided to take them apart and try to use the reflectors out of them. Here is how they turned out. These lights are going to be used on the refugiums. They cleaned up like new. Still have one more of these to make and have to do our T-5 retro. Will be working on that tomorrow. Want it to be noted for the record i really appreciate and love you Anna, Thanks for all you have done without complaining at all.
  7. I would go with at least a 60 Gal. cube. Also i would scratch the idea of having a pair of mandarins in either. You would not have enough rock work to support the food source they need.
  8. If it were a Sat. i could help. Just cant get off work right now.
  9. That is the schedule i am using. It is working pretty good. I am also dosing MB7 due to the comments made in Jans thread on her Vodka dosing.
  10. I might be wrong but i thought STN started at the base of the coral.
  11. I have a problem. The Tiger Shark pump i am using for the system upgrade has to be sent off due to bad bearing. I am looking for a hammer head or dart pump to borrow for 2 weeks until i get mine back. I need the pump so i can get water going through the tanks downstairs. It is not going to be plumbed to the whole system. Just need it so i can get water moving and salt added. I only have 165 gallons of water vats and need the tank to make up the other 150 or so gallons. LMK if you can help. Thanks Lynn
  12. I keep Alk around 10. Calcium between 420 and 440.
  13. It has been a little slow, but we are still moving forward. We got the vinyl backing on the tanks. We also painted the bottom of the frag tanks. We built the stand that is going to hold the water vats ( 100 gal. salt, and 65 gal. fresh ). We painted the exterior wall of the frag room to brighten up the basement a little. My dad helped me run a 1/2" water line for the RO/DI unit. A few of the tanks have the plumbing completed. I ran into a problem with the Tiger Shark pump. We plumbed it to the 90 gal. sump and it was really noisy. Took the pump to Joe at Fish World. It has been a little slow getting Joe to look at it. Finally after a week i got word that it needs a new bearing. Joe is sending it off tomorrow, hope it get back pretty quick. If i forgot something i will post it later. Here are a few pics. Water vat stand RO/DI unit Anna wanted to label the tanks. What Anna wants, Anna gets. Here is a couple of Anna's wood burning pieces. She seems like she is not happy with them, but i think she did great.
  14. I am really sorry to hear about this . We will pray for you and your family. I have not met you yet, but knowing what you did for her you must be a really good person. If or when you get back into the hobby LMK i will get you some frags. Lynn
  15. When your corals get bigger there will be more demand for it.I don't think weekly water changes will not keep up with the demand. I still dose manually for know, but am looking into getting reactors. It is also scary at time's thinking of going to reactors because you hear about the malfunctions that happen and over dose your tank. Maybe someone with some experience will chime in here and correct me if i am wrong and point you ( US ) in the right direction.
  16. Tank looks great. I just went through the whole thread. Really nice work. And for the pics, what can i say except just amazing. I would like to try to get you out my way to get you to take some pics of the 265. I can't get a good FTS, or actinics shots at all. Very nice work guys, keep it up. Lynn
  17. Yeah i sorta messed up when i picked the places for the outlets. I am hoping all will be O.K.. I have plenty of room to get to the sockets. Mostly everything in that room will be on a DJ board's so i will have easy access to turn the power off to individual pieces of equipment.
  18. We got a little more done today. We cleaned the inside of all the tanks. That was real fun. We the put the tanks into their places. Had to do a little tweaking on the breeder tank on the back wall. Seems i tried to make a tight fit a little to tight. Did not take long to fix the problem. We installed the 6" exhaust fan and hooked the line to a chimney that is not in use. Works great. Also hung the door. Going to plum the Tiger shark pump in tomorrow so i can get it running. It has been sitting for a while so i want to make sure there are no leaks. Here are a few pics. 6" exhaust vent All the tank need to have their heights adjusted so they gravity flow into the next tank on that line. Their is going to be 3 separate feed lines, each feeding water to a series of different tanks.
  19. They said it was felt all the way down in Charlottesville, VA. I live in Orange and i did not know about it until i turned on the news. Of course i was asleep at 5:00 AM.
  20. What has it done for the nitrates?
  21. Anna put 2 coats of paint on the tank racks today. Time to start cleaning all the tanks tomorrow after work. Here are a few pics. Before paint After paint
  22. Looking for opinions. What is the best PVC to use? Schedule 40, 80 or is there something else. I know i will be using some flex PVC to prevent the use of elbows.

  24. From what i remember your frag tanks are not that deep ( correct me if i am wrong ). It just might be to much light for the Chalices, and LPS. I know in the 265 the Chalices are happiest on the bottom of my tank. When i had them on the frag rack they really turned a lighter color. My LPS are pretty much on the bottom of the tank or in a semi shaded area. Except the Frog Spawn.
