  1. I would throw it away just to be on the safe side. The cost of the new sock is not as expensive as your sweet corals.
  2. My ph is at 8.0, my Alk. is at 10 dkh ( Salafert test kits ). I want to get my PH up but not mess with my Alk. What is the best way to do that? I have lights on night and day, The displays upstairs on during the day and the sysyem in the basement on at night.
  3. Anytime. I just hope some day my tank will look as good as yours.
  4. You got my vote. Your still in the lead.
  5. I need to come visit you very soon. Tank looks great. LMK when you are available on a weekend. Lynn
  6. I wanted to take pics with just VHO's and T-5's. These pics are true color as to what you would see them if you were here looking at the corals with those lights on. I am in the learning process with the frags on the acrylic. The pics in my frags for sale thread were taken under 250 watt 20K Plusrite MH, i know these pics suck and i am practicing everyday to get decent pics.
  7. Not the best at taken pics, but here they are. Pics were taken with the VHO's and T-5's on, no MH. Thanks for looking.
  8. I really like my Tunze's. Have not had any major issues with them. The issues i did have Roger took care of me at no cost. I had a 6101 that was acting up and they replaced it with the new version 6105. The 6101 was 2 1/2 years old. Go with the 6105 if you choose Tunze. I also love that you can tweak the direction of the flow were you cant with the Vortec.
  9. I know i was just trying to explain. Maybe i came off wrong. I'm sorry if it sounded that way. I just did it that way because some people say live rock rubble and some say bio balls.
  10. I will keep small fish. i will buy a small tang and Coris Wrasse for each tank. When the tang gets to big for the tank i will either trade it in at a LFS for another one or just sell it. The frags have more space on this system than they do on egg crate.
  11. As for the frags, I can sell the a few ways. I can cut the frag off, as is, or cut some of the rod off and insert into a small piece of live rock with a hole that is already in it or i can drill. The Bio ball topic has many different opinions. I feel they have no more of a chance of building up nitrates than the live rock rubble. Joe down at Fish world has displays of 1200, 900, and a 150 gallon in the store and no problems with nitrates. He has a lot of bio balls in the systems. He also has a small tank that has been running for 13 years in the store and no problems.
  12. I know a guy who has an aquarium that is 15 years old and has no problem with nitrates. I am not worried. I dont think the bio balls are any worse than the live rock used in a tank this way. JMO.
  13. The baffle in the middle of the tank is off the floor of the about 1", also has holes drilled in it for flow to go through it. Over top as well. Hope that explains it a little better.
  14. We will be seeing you next week. I love the down draft too. Just took a while to get it tuned in. Kicking butt now.
  15. The water come in on the left side of the tank near the bottom. The flow is pretty good through the whole aquarium. The purpose for the bio balls is the same as the the live rock.
  16. Yeah the water flows through them. Water comes in on the live rock side and then through the bio balls.
  17. We got the system upgrade plumbed up and running last Thursday. Went pretty smoothly. Still have a 20 gal fuge to add on and the 75 gal RDSB. That will be done in 2 weeks. Here are a few pics. The new frag rack we did. It will hold 207 frags with 1 1/4" in between frags. Finally got the skimmer dialed in. She is dialed in. Kicks BUTT. I am skimming on the dryish side. Right at gallon of skim mate since Monday evening. Dark and stinky.
  18. System up and running since last Thursday. Will post some pics soon.
  19. Very nice Nam. I would love to come by and see it in person, and try to buy a couple frags from you. Keep up the good work.
  20. $10 To $12 is the answer, buy a new one. If you are having that much of a problem separating it do you really want to use it!
  21. I have a tank set up that is devided. One side for live rock rubble and the other bio balls. No light except what spills into it from the room.
  22. Anytime. Sorry you cant make the meet.
  23. Well we have made some good progress the last few days. We have water going to 6 tanks. Plan is to get the 265 on the system on Thursday. That means it would be complete, except a few odds and ends. Here are a few pics.
