  1. Is there any particular brand of Vodka, or do they all work the same?
  2. Bob, I have MH's and i have not noticed any flickering. Is it possible for you to try a different circuit. Maybe a little to much on that particular one. Atleast if you try it and nothing changes that is one thing you can mark off the list. As far as the corals not being happy, did you let the adjust to the MH "s over a period of time.
  3. Hey Jan, what reading were you getting for your Phosphates. I am having a little problem with Phos and Nitrates. My corals are not showing any signs of any kind though. Knock on wood. They have great color and polyp extension. I have a little Cyano and a little algae that has the growth pattern like moss. Its not real bad yet. I am going to keep up with this thread to see where it takes you. I will probably start Vodka dosing on Sunday. Keep us informed.
  4. We pretty much finished the construction part of the room today. Now we have to do another paint job. Which will be tomorrow. Then getting the tanks in their place so i can figure out the plumbing. I think i have it the way it needs to go in my head. I will be drawing it out tonight on paper. Here are a few pics. Anna doing some caulking and filling screw holes. Getting ready for paint tomorrow. The table on the left will house the 50, and 40 gal breeder. The rack on the back wall will house the other 40 gal. breeder. Up top above the 40 breeder will be (2) 20 gal. long tanks. One of them will have just Live rock, and the other will be a Refugium. The table to the right. The lower level will be where the 90 gal sump will sit. The upper level will have the 75 gal RDSB and a 30 long Refugium. You cant see the front wall, but above the 30 long is where the 10 gal. Xenia tank will be.
  5. Thanks. I have been wanting this for a year and a half. I still have a ways to go, but going. I only wish i had done it a little bigger, i can always add on.
  6. Very cool. It just shows how little we know about the under water world.
  7. Thanks. Anytime you want to stop by is fine.
  8. Sorry to hear this sad news. I live not to far from you. If you need help or need a place to house some corals LMK. Also when you do get back in give me a shout, i will get you some frags. Lynn
  9. Tiger Shark will be in a different position. We have already decided to add the support that you are talking about. Thanks for watching out for me though.
  10. Thanks for the advise. I found a 6" fan today in my basement. It is amazing what you can find just going through some of your junk. I an truely thinking of running PVC to the outside since you said something. Does it really help that much with the PH?
  11. We made a little more progress to day. We built the second tank stand that will house 2 of the 3 frag tanks. One more tank rack/stand to go. This is the beast that will be pumping the water upstairs to the 265 and Anna's 60 gal cube. Hopefully i can get the last rack built tomorrow night. Then we can dp the last of the painting.
  12. O.k., you and chubakah have talked me out of the dehumidifier. I am going to go with the fan vent. Now i need to figure out what size vent to go with. Someone told me go with a 6" fan. They sai it is the only one that works good. Any input on this would be appreciated. I hope getting the hole for the vent is not to big of a pain.
  13. I bought a Blue line Titanium heater from BRK 2 years ago after my Finnex crapped out on me. Knock on wood it has been a good heater. Getting ready to replace it with another one just to be safe.
  14. Yes i do owe them. Some have already been taken care of. There are a few others i have started some frags for. Plus they got dinner.
  15. We made a little more progress today. We built one set of the tank racks today. I think we beefed it up a little to much, but i know it is not going anywhere. We used 4"x6" as the support post on the main rack and 2"x6" for everything else. The main table will be where the 90 gal. sump, Tiger Shark, and Dart pump will be housed. The upper rack ( not yet completed ) will house the 75 Gal RDSB, 10 gal. Xenia tank , 20 and 30 Gal Refugium's. On the opposite and back wall will be the other tank racks. Here's a few pics.
  16. Like Tony said in the last meeting, That is the way they grow in the wild. I think it looks great when the corals start over lapping each other. By the way Steve the tank looks great.
  17. I have my Titanium heater laying on the bottom of the sump. If the water level drops to it lowest point it will still have approx. 2 1/2" of water over it.
  18. Glad you are O.K. Hunter. I guess i will be replacing my heater soon. I use a Titanium Heater that is fully submerged. Can this happen to them as well?
  19. I make Anna clean the outhouse once a month. She is down at the creek now washing clothes. Later we are going to go out and find some road kill for dinner.
  20. You know you and anyone else is welcome anytime. It is hard to get people out here because we live out in the sticks. Just want you to know we have paved roads out here now.
  21. Well i put the glue down last night ( this morning ) 1:30 AM. Got up at 7:00 AM and started putting down the tiles. Was not hard at all. Here are a few pics of the painted room with the floor finished. What a help Anna is. I owe her a lot, that is for just putting up with me.
  22. I would love to go with the exhaust fan. Only problem is i have a brick house. I do not have the tools to do get the vent line to the outside. I know there are people on this forum with the know how but i live to far out for them to come down. I will have to see what i can do.
  23. June 23rd. Anna put 2 coats of paint on the Green board. We thought it might take a 3rd coat, but it did not need it. Pics coming soon. The floor goes down on Sat.. Sunday the tank racks get built. Busy weekend for sure.
  24. It is not that easy to catch things in the larger tanks. There is a lot of live rock they can hide in. As sad as it is, it is just not worth tearing down the tank to catch these guys. I had to tear apart my tank to catch a few fish, it was horrible. You can never get it back the way it was.
  25. I had a Coral Beauty, Flame, and Key Hole. I never had polyp extension on my SPS. They really went after my Scoly. I would say stay clear of them.
