  1. I am trying to locate information on different salt brands. I am thinking of changing salts to reduce the cost of water changes. I am using Tropic Marin Pro right now and it's pretty expensive. If you know a link to a comparison chart showing the different trace elements numbers please post a link. Thanks
  2. I would not be able to afford LED lights for the 265. I know in the long run they save money, but it would be really expensive to get it set up.
  3. Just wanted to tell everyone that we made the trip to Pacific East Aquaculture today with my other reef club ( Richmond Reefers ). All i can say is WOW. We were treated very well. Dr. Mac is a real good guy who will spend time with you and answer questions that you have. The selection of clams he has are unbelievable. My friend bought a 10 to 12" Maxima for $80, he had approx 300 at that price and i could not find one i did not like. All the coral were really sweet and affordable. They served us lunch and made us feel really welcome. If you have not been there you should make the trip atleast once.
  4. The coral will encrust the Aqua mag, you wont see it after a little time.
  5. We put together a little trip in my other club ( Richmond Reefers ). We are getting some kind of tour with lunch. Should be fun, i have always wanted to go but never worked it into the schedule.
  6. I have one i got from Huy. I keep it under 250 watt 20K Plusrite DE plus 39 watt T-5's and 160 watt VHO's Its about 12 inches below the water surface and the light is 8 inches above the water surface. It has some really nice color. Almost destroyed it when i was Vodka dosing but it has recovered nicely. Not a very good pic, but here it is.
  7. We are going there this coming Sat.. Does anyone know how long it takes to get there from Manassas?
  8. Really beautiful Dave. Anna and I still have to get up and see it in person. Keep up the great work.
  9. I have one in my tank that is 5 to 6" long. Pretty much a model citizen. They can eat Small fish, shrimp and snails.
  10. Huy, really great pics. Beautiful colors on your corals. Anna and I will have to come visit again real soon. With $$$$$.
  11. I did a little research and i think you are right. Thanks
  12. I dont know if the fish will eat it. I have it in one of my frag tanks, it has no Tangs in it. I think i am going to frag a piece off and put it in the tank to see if they bother it. As soon as it gets a little bigger i will PM you about you getting a piece. Lynn
  13. I should have made myself a little more clear. I need ID on the first 2 pics.
  14. Chris, It is some kind of macro algae i think. If you are still interested i can get you a piece. Does not grow like any other macro i have seen.
  15. Here is a couple of pics. This one i received from Sanjay. It was sold to me as a Secale. It has colored up really nice. I thought Secale's had white Polyps. Am i wrong? Who am i to question Sanjay. Pics were taken under 250 watt Plus-Rite 20K Bulb only. I received this from a fellow reefer from Richmond. Can someone ID this for me? Really beautiful color. Thanks Lynn
  16. I had a Octopus NW 200 on my 265, it did a good job. Since i did the system upgrade and have quite a bit more water volume i have the ETSS 1800 down draft skimmer. This thing kicks butt. Down draft for me for now on.
  17. Well it looks like **** has a friend. No doubt this person is bashing you extreme and this forum just because we wanted to see the right actions taken. It is awful funny he just became a member today and this was his first and hopefully last post. We here at wamas stand behind each other for the most part especially when it concerns a safety issue. So with that said i am very pleased, you and some members got involved. Good job.
  18. Thanks for answering. Water is flowing at all times.
  19. I have 9 tanks on the same system, 2 upstairs 7 downstairs. I have one ground probe in the main display upstairs and one in the sump downstairs. Do i need one in each tank, or is that over kill?
  20. I have used Tropic Marin Pro for the past 5 years. Have been very pleased.
  21. Has anyone dealt with these guys? SeaLifeInc. If were they decent to deal with and were you satisfied? Thanks
  22. Chris, those are some really nice shots. If you have not seen this tank in person you need too. I told you last time i was over you had a tank of the month and the pics are the proof. Hope to see you soon, i need to get a few more frags from you. Lynn
