Anyone know if any lfs carry the small round plastic part that goes inside the big tunze's? I managed to get one stuck and broke it trying to remove. Or does anyone have an extra laying around?

yup I agree with everyone else... I run my lights longer simply so I can look at my tank more hours of the day.... After about 11 months my tank starts looking a little yellow and I change the bulbs....

My big tank is mostly barebottom (there is some sand in the corners).... What are your opinions about doing a DSB in the Tech Tank? The frag/Tech tank should be up and running by Sunday...

give me about a month and I will be able to frag it again... the green efflo is about 6" x 4"... the purple one only made it about 2"x2"....

all four channels are programable but it works like this: Pick Pump (pick pump 1, 2, 3 or 4 to program) Set Interval Time (So you can set it to 24 hours and it will dose 1x per day or 12 hours for 2x day and so on) Set Dosing Time (this is the amount of time every interval it doses) Thats it. Unfortunately I dont think you can set it so the pumps start at different times. I think if you program them to dose one time per day they all dose at the same time. If anyone knows how to make them start at different times LMK. I sent aquamedic a beat up old one and they gave me a good deal on this new quad doser ($300)... if I was going to buy a $500 dosing pump I would have bought another brand...

My New Frag Tank and Dosing Set Up... What do you guys think?

yes I am running SE bulbs. My colors change depending on bulb age, water parameters, etc. I went out of town and my skimmer didn't produce any skimmate for 10 days... all the colors were slightly darker... I dont have much experience but I have read people saying that fish poop/nutrients in the water can account for coloring in coral... I have 6 tangs that are poop factorys... I like the color of my tank with just 10k and was thinking about getting supplements... but I am going to stick with just 10k and get my nutrients where I want them... You are welcome to come see my tank... The bulbs are about 6-8" over the water with no glass in between except for the brace in the middle of the tank that the two middle lights have to shine through.

Mogul xm 10k. two are 250 watt and two are 175 watt. I just ordered 4 ice cap pendants and 4 new ice cap 250 ballasts and will be running 4 250 watt SE halides... two XM brand and I am going to try the ICE CAP bulbs on the other two....

a yellow tang and a hippo tang in a 30 gallon... watch out for the Tang Police...

I recently discovered my carpet eats fish.... but only small fish... doesn't bother the six tangs.... but I have lost chromis, potters angel, mandarin, firefish, etc to the carpet.

I drove to MRCORAL the other day to price a red planet, pearlberry and bird of paradise... After the ORA prices at my favorite LFS I thought MRCORAL must have even better prices.... I walked in, saw the prices and walked out... I laughed at myself for driving to Fredrick, MD as I walked out... $80 for a red planet frag... I didn't have the time to stick around and wait to haggle for the good prices he gives people... on the way out the door I heard him say to someone else "its marked $80 but I will give it to you for $60" Also compared to some other LFS the frags were very small. If he hooked me up I would probably be posting that he gave me a deal, but he didn't hook me up. So if you think there were $50 red planets at MRCORAL the other day you are nuts because I would have one... and I dont... And finally... I wouldn't have posted this if your post wasn't an advertisement for MRCORAL... I personally wont be leaving Virginia to buy corals ever again... OH.... and congratulations on the good deal!

I was wondering if anyone who is a whiz on an ACIII can come over and set mine up to email me if there is a problem before Sunday AM when I leave for vacation... Will pay with frags...

I am going on vacation this weekend for 8 days... Probably going to worry about this the entire time. Sorry for your loss. Last week I went to Blacksburg and stayed in my fraternity house in a room of a friend who has a salt tank. His return pipe had came loose and sprayed water on his power strip almost causing a fire but luckily it tripped the breaker. I found the tank under 70 degrees, fish laying on the bottom, no circulation, no heat, nothing. Every single fraternity member was home for the holidays... they could have come home to a burnt down house due to neglect... I as able to get it back up and running safely and saved everything (except the rug). He pretty much only has fish. So that is two in a week I know of.... Do you know what tripped the GFI?
