  2. this trip sounds tempting. How far is Penn state from Philly?
  3. To set the timer for the pump, it would look something like this: If Time > 08:00 Then PM1 ON If Time > 08:03 Then PM1 OFF If Time > 09:00 Then PM1 ON If Time > 09:03 Then PM1 OFF You would do this for every 3 min interval as you wanted. Then set it again the same way for the 9PM to 8AM with a 5 min interval.
  4. Curt is a good guy and I'm glad to see that he didn't let you down. Sometime on issues like this, it takes a bit of time to troubleshoot remotely so that might explain why it took him a bit of time to get back to you. Glad to see that he was able to help you narrow down the potential source of your problem.
  5. I have my purple firefish for 4 months now in the 30 gal tank with the light about 18" over the top of the water. I was a bit nervous before I bought it because they were known to be a jumper. In my tank, it has not been a problem. I guess the light distance is not so high up to be a problem.
  6. Dave, None taken. Question though. He had his rocks sitting in tap water for the past few months. Wouldn't it be better to swish off the tap water from the rocks with RODI water before they are placed in the main tank?
  7. LOL Yeah, I remember what that was like the first time I cracked open the book. You should take a look at the link I provided earlier. There's a lot of useful information in there that will simplify your task in setting up your ACIII. Congrats on your purchase by the way. It's a great piece of investment.
  8. Sandy, WAMAS have a boat load of people who been using the ACIII and the AC Pro, so have no fear. We had a huge group buy on the ACIII back in December. Here's a link that can also help you with the programming side and you can also post questions there too. If you set up your ACIII to connect to your home network, then you should download the AquaNote lite version from their website. It's much easier to program your ACIII from your computer than it is from the unit. http://www.wamas.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=18730
  9. I just received a replacement temp probe from Neptune to replace the malfunctioned one that came with my ACIII. The first thing I noticed after I opened the package was just how much larger the probe tip was compared to the original one that I had. Not only was it hefty compared to the old probe, the temp probe also came with a thick rubber tip that looked almost like those that came with the pH probe to protect it. To be on the safe side, I emailed Kurt and thanked him for getting a free replacement out to me so quickly and to find out whether I should remove the rubber tip or leave it on. It was a good thing I checked because the replied I got back from Kurt was that I needed to leave the rubber tip on. I tested the temp read out on a glass of water and compared that to a different digital thermometer and the result was nearly identical. Satisfied with my reading, I reprogrammed the controller so it now monitor and control my tank's temp once again. Now I can stop calling my wife every few hours and asked her to check my tank's temp reading for me while I'm at work.
  10. Lance, Anyway you can hold off till that Sat? If you can, I'll be there.
  11. I recently started using this from bulksreefsupply on my reef tank as well as my cichlids tank and it works very well. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/Bulk-Carbon/...oduct_info.html
  12. Lance, Can you hold off on moving the tank till later that evening when everyone is out of work?

  14. Josh, What Dave was asking was how long do you leave each light on? 8 hours, 10 hours? Knowing how long each light is on, we can tell you whether or not you need to cut back or if the light is not part of the problem.
  15. hmmm.....Thanks....but no thanks.
  16. Thanks, Tim.
  17. I didn't know you can use vinegar or lemon juice. I'll stop by cvs on the way home today and pick up a syringe from them. Thanks again.
  18. Where exactly are they located in Fairfax?
  19. Thanks. I'll do that on Thurs when they're open next.
  20. OK, I'm seeing several of the nasty majano popping up in my tank. I remember someone on the site have used pet syringe needles. I was wondering if I can have one so I can inject those nasty critters with kalk water to kill them.
  21. Hi and welcome, I'm sure by now you hear the one common advice from the seasoned folks here is that for you to take your time and go slowly. As hard of a temptation as it is to quickly add things into your tank, this hobby is one of those that you need to approach slowly. Else you risk crashing your tank and or deal with severe algae problem. Looks like you already have a good set up going. Now, it's time to take a break from it and let nature take its course until your tank is fully stabilize, then start adding things to it. Best of luck.
  22. I had a great time as well. I thought the guest speakers we had with their presentations were very informative and interesting. Great job for putting it together.
  23. That is gorgeous.
