  1. Yep, pretty easy setup. I ran one for several years. You definitely have to make sure that you have very little resistance for the water returning to the sump or you risk the water level in your skimmer being too high with no real way to adjust it. Oh, and skimmer has to be recirculating. The return to the sump should be through the standpipe on the skimmer.
  2. RODI is 0.00 and you can calibrate to this. The problem is that sometimes they will read correctly at 0.000 but adjust at an incorrect rate as salt is introduced. So at 0.000 they're right. At 0.01 they're close but maybe off by .005 and at 0.03 they're off by a full .01. This is why you ideally want to calibrate with solution at or near the value you want to test. Same logic applies for why you calibrate your pH probes at 7 & 10 to read tank water and at 4 & 7 to read a Ca Reactor. Need to calibrate around the values you want to read to ensure maximum accuracy.
  3. Check with Justin at Avast. They order fittings in quantity so if they don't have it you might be able to piggyback on an order to reduce your shipping costs.
  4. The video says its made of glass (I thought). I'm trying to figure out what this guy does to afford it.
  5. I guess this is better late than never Benjamin Daniel Ward was born 2/8/2013 weighing 9lbs 2oz. Everyone is doing well!
  6. I doubt it's profitable to have a fish store in DC. This area is difficult because the cost of real estate is so high and you generally need a lot of space. I imagine the DC government is difficult to work with from a regulatory stand point as well (as they are with everything else) but that's just speculation on my part.
  7. At one time they also offered a WAMAS discount. Not sure if they still do.
  8. Everytinng I've always heard about them is hit and miss with no real pattern. Sometimes they're great other times they're not.
  9. No, Aquarium One is not a sponsor of the club.
  10. I've hung MH pendants from the ceiling using toggle bolts. No issues.
  11. Yea. One of the things I like least about the place.
  12. I haven't been there in a few years. Here are my impressions: - It is not nice despite what your friend may have said. It is a greenhouse with a dirt floor. The tanks usually appear filthy though a year or so ago I heard they cleaned up all the tanks. - It is definitely worth a visit as you will see fish there you don't typically find other places. They do a lot of wholesale business so there is a lot of turnover in their stock. - You will see sick fish but you will also see a lot of healthy fish. If you know what you're looking for and what you're doing, you can get some deals. - Everything from Roozens must be QT'd. They run copper in most of their systems so don't let any of their water get into your water.
  13. If you need a bit for glass I have one. Don't think I have one for acrylic that big.
  14. You'll be in VB on 12/22? I put it on my calendar but give me a call. I have a broken ankle but I'm hoping to be in decent shape in a couple weeks.
  15. Any size should be possible. If you have wood floor joists, be sure you place it across the joists (if your joists are on 18" centers, a 6' tank would go across approximately 5 of them. If you live in a commercial high-rise (like in Clarendon/Ballston area) then you likely have concrete flooring and I wouldn't expect this to be a concern. Remember this isn't a point load, it's a distributed load. a 180 gal tank should have about 1800# of water and weights somewhere around 500# (I know it's less, but let's go with that). That's a total of 2300#. Spread across 5 floor joists, that's the same as 500# per joist which is easily accommodated.
  16. We're leaving for Va Beach in 12/21. Let me know if you need me to take anything down for you and I'll try to make room for it in the truck. Or if you need some help down there over the weekend I may be able to lend a hand.
  17. Pretty sure BRK has mixed-bed resin. Not sure about the separate resins. I believe most of us use mixed-bed. I also use a dual TDS meter to measure TDS after the RO membrane and after the DI resin to monitor when the resin needs to be changed. I can never really see the color change.
  18. I think it's Northeastern Supply in Brentwood, MD. Can't remember for sure though.
  19. There's a hardware store in Springfield. Not a chain but can't remember the name. There's also a plumbing supply in Hyattsville that should have it.
  20. Yep. I'm getting it now as well. I'll open a ticket against it with IPB. We didn't touch that skin so I believe it's a bug in the product.
  21. It's an app put out by Invision Power Board (IPB) for accessing forums using their software. If you access the site on a mobile device, you'll see a link to get the app at the bottom of the page.
  22. All, Please note that the IPB app will also work with this version of the site. So if you're looking for alerts, etc. you don't only have to use Tapatalk.
  23. Can you please provide platform (Andriod, iOS, etc.), version (5.1, 6.0, Jelly Bean, etc.), Browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox), and is it consistent and repeatable? (I'm not seeing it on iOS 6.0.1 with Safari)
  24. At the very bottom of the page in the grey footer there's a "mark forum as read" link. I think that will do it.
