  5. If you want a single fixture look at the Aquactinics line. They are great. David
  6. Check out your tank at night after the lights have been out for awhile. If you see "critters" running around then you have them. You can buy some from BRK as the have then in a bottle.
  7. Make your own. Two Part or really on the cheap side use baking soda (ALK), prestone heat (CA), Epson salt (MgSO4), and Magflake (MgCl2). David
  8. Alot depends on the color of the bulb. 14K by one company could be a 10K by another companies description. If possible view others setups and go with bulbs you like.
  9. Those are the TEK I good enough really. Also the material the SLR are stainless and the TEK I are aluminum. Still at clearance prices that's pretty good.
  10. The TEK 2 are wider about 3 inches. The SLR are 2.5 perfect for the space that the standoff takeup.
  11. I'am gluing an acrylic cylinder to a PVC slip cap. It has a 1mm gap in between so I need to fill it in a little.

  13. Fishy Herpes.... My clown had it once. He is doing fine.
  14. I've used it on acrylic but be very careful as acrylic is very easy to scratch. I keep flushing the area with vinegar and use a scrubber made for acrylic.
  15. I soak them overnight then run them briefly and dismantle them for a good cleaning.
  16. I soak it in 100% vinegar since it's only 5% acetic acid (weak acid).
  17. Welcome to WAMAS Be sure to include your location as this may be helpful in getting help/stuff from people close to you. David
  18. I received my order awhile ago and now finally posting the picture. I ordered it during the heat wave we were having. The triple bagged coral leaked but still had water in it. So far it has been doing great and expends its tentacles at night. I expect to be ordering from them again in the future. Discount + coupon + free shipping = good deal

  20. Welcome Mike, If you want the best deals for equipment they are located in the for sale/trade section of the boards. Members have access to the postings and I bet you will save even after membership fee. You can also access other discussions and group buys going on in Virginia, DC, and Maryland. I have not heard of anyone yet to complain about their memebership. Good luck and welcome back to the hobby. David
  21. 10,000K = white light, 15,000K= light blue and 20,000 K=blue Coral grow faster with 6500K or 10,000 K but most people don't like the look of the washed out color of just the 10,000K. They usually add antinics to add more blue and florescence. The bluer the color the slower the growth usually. Chose the color that works for you. david
