Joshifer September 25, 2016 Author Share September 25, 2016 Lolol how often do you feed? Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk I skip a day. Like I fed today so I'll feed again Monday. I alternate between frozen brine. Seachem flakes. And omega color enhancing pellets. I let l uneaten food sit on the sand for an hour or two. If none of the CUC eat it. I remove it. Joshifer September 25, 2016 Author Share September 25, 2016 Hmm yeah wow lolol that's pretty clean Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk Algaes terrify me. Especially hair and this red goop. So I clean the tank a lot. But not to the point where it's sterile I know corals need some dirt.

I feed the fish well (three times daily) and when I'm not home, my wife feeds them like it's their last meal.

davelin315 September 26, 2016 Share September 26, 2016 Everyone gets cyano at some point in time, it's all part of a new tank cycle. It will eventually go away as the bacteria culture catches up to where it needs to be. If you don't see it, doesn't mean it's not there, it's just waiting to come out for the right opportunity... Joshifer September 26, 2016 Author Share September 26, 2016 (edited) I thought I heard you say that you didn't like shopping at Petco.... For animals and aquatic dry goods I boycot them. My daughters new bunny needed supplies petsmart and Walmart didn't carry. To be specific. A lava stone ring to wear it's teeth down. treesprite September 26, 2016 Share September 26, 2016 You need fish that will eat out of your hand, so food doesn't go flying around the tank. My clowns eat from my hand, and I don't even need a net to catch them, they swim right into my palm.

I let food hit the floor for the cuc. Let it sit an hour then clean it if they don't eat it.
treesprite September 27, 2016 Share September 27, 2016 Since my little tank is so crammed with rock, I can't get to my star to target feed it, so I have to let food go all over, which causes problems. Cyano isn't a problem in the tank I put the food in, but In the little tank it's plumbed together with, I think because there is nothing in there to eat the stuff that gets into the shared sump's shared return pump to be put into that tank (I should probably have some shrimps in that tank). I thought he was eating my corals then I noticed he's picking junk off their skeletons. He cleans the sand bed. Rocks. Sometimes they clean fish but I doubt he'll do that. He doesn't bother the fish unless they come by his cave then he lunges to scare them away. As for that whole "they eat sleeping fish" my clowns sleep on the sand flat on their sides he doesn't go near them he minds his own buisness. And isn't shy he's always out. But I think he's looking for a new cave. The Royal gramma stole his over hang. And he's afraid of the RG cus he doesn't back down when the CB lunges lol. I hear skunk cleaners are more social. But I didn't wanna give $40 on a shrimp lol. Edited September 27, 2016 by Joshifer
treesprite September 27, 2016 Share September 27, 2016 (edited) I bet That PetCo branch does not have a specific aquatics specialist. When I was one at a Petco about 17 years ago, I spent every day cleaning tanks, changing or rinsing filter pads, and getting soaked from having to do it for the top row of tanks while standing on a little ladder. Before I worked there, the tanks could not even be seen into, and were absolutely horrifying. Unfortunately, having clean and tidy tanks did nothing about the shipments of sick or DOA livestock. If you see sick fish at a PetCo, it is most likely that they came in that way. I'm surprised they don't have higher prices to make up for all the losses. Didn't Petco affiliate itself with Live Aquaria this past year? If so, I'd like to know what is happening, because there have been no obvious differences in what I see in the store tanks. treesprite September 27, 2016 Share September 27, 2016 OK I found the info. Petco actually owns DFS including Live Aquaria. So when you order from Live Aquaria, you are getting the quality of livestock dictated by PetCo, from suppliers approved by Petco. Should I assume that the suppliers for PetCo in-store purchases are the same as those for items bought through Live Aquaria website? And are the prices about the same? No idea but I refuse to buy anything out of their tanks. Once I did. And it was floating in the bag. New shipment. And it was marked Xenia but sold me a flower pot :/ I think they need to stop dealing in aquatics because their horrible at it.
