  1. In other words, the red line is from the overflow of the cube, to the bottom of the sump section with the return pump. When the sump fills, will the overflow from the cube work if it’s that low? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Yes, will it flow though if it’s well under water? Like near the bottom of the sump? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Another question- the return line from the cube to the sump- that needs to dump above water right? I couldn’t drill the sump and have it empty below water- otherwise it would want to fill and not have pressure to dump? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Right, that’s what I was thinking. I think I can accommodate that, but would need to check. Thanks for the responses! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I thought about the drain, but it’s on the other side and hooked into a roller mat- I don’t want to mess with that. I can adjust the sump volume some to give some more headroom for back flow- all that will flow back in there is what’s in the plumbing from the refugium tank (it’s a 40 cube) and the plumbing from the display- which already flows back- I don’t think there is much to flow back, right? 6. No- actually the return pump would basically be split and some would go into the display and some would go into the refugium- essentially that water would recirculate from return pump to refugium and back to return pump. If power goes, I don’t think much would go back into the sump, other than what is in the plumbing from the addition tank? My sump is small and about at its max limit now for water- that is my concern Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Forgive my drawing (I can’t)- but I am thinking about adding a drilled cube tank that I have into my current system. Like to make it a display refugium maybe. Would this plumbing work? Any concerns with this plan? How about when the pumps are off with back flow into the sump/extra tank? I know I might need a couple valves to control the flow and a strong enough return pump. Thanks for your help! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I would say go as big as possible- I have had tanks from 15 gallons to my now 7’ 260 gallons- I also like a deeper tank- makes for more “ocean feel”- That said- I have seen a bunch of amazing nano and smaller tanks as well- but for me once I had a 6’+ tank there was no turning back Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Not sure I am following your question- any photos? I have don’t plumbing on several tanks including a couple DB 80s Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Just a few photos- have added some fish and corals. Also added a 3rd Radion G6 and a ReefMat 1200 filter roller. You can probably tell from the pics who the star of the tank is! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Broke all down and sold it. Starting from scratch on this one! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Yep, it’s gone. There are a couple Richmond specific FB pages which are fairly active. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Nice touch with the orange pipes! What skimmer is that and where did you purchase? (I am in the market for a big skimmer) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Awesome tank! What are your plans for stocking it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I was looking at the captive bred one, yes. Not sure I will get one as I love zoas and softies haha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Nice! Loving all the leathers. I will be curious to see how that Regal does, I have been considering one. I’m just worried about picking at corals etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Thanks! I will scrape it, at least where possible. I scrape the sides and front and bottom every couple days. Some coralline will grow in areas that are hard to reach. I will also plan to have some corals growing in some spots on the bottom. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I will be making a trip north to Chantilly, any stores in that area that I should hit? Any reefers have any fish and/or corals available in that area? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. And…. Here it is today up and running… much more to come as I add fish and corals etc! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. As I said, this tank will be similar to my previous ones with heavy emphasis on soft coral, LPS, gorgonians. Right now I have 2 G6 XR15 for lighting and I know I will need another 2. Also two MP40s for flow, which I know won’t be enough. The tank is barebottom, but I painted the underside white for reflection and also illusion of sand. I plan to have a large number of small active fish, and one or two large fish (Blonde Naso for sure). Here are only a couple of the only photos I took during the process: (ignore the socks and the messy garage!) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. First, I really wanted to take photos and document the whole process of getting this tank up and running… but I am horrible at doing so. I have a tendency to just jump in and go whenever I have time and don’t waste it on photos! Anyway, we just bought our new home in April and I had a great space in our finished basement for a large tank. I have always wanted something bigger than 6’ as I love watching fish swim horizontally. I started pricing and looking at various options and made a post on here as well. Ended up grabbing @kyle&amy ‘s acrylic 260 gallon. It was made by Artfully Acrylic and measures 84”x30”x24”. I sanded and buffed it, polished it up (which is a chore). Also sanded the metal stand and painted it. Moved on to the plumbing and all the other misc jobs of getting a tank going! (Again, photos would be great, but I’m impatient!) Anyway, it’s been up and running for about 3-4 weeks now and is completely cycled. I will add some additional posts with equipment and the few photos I have as well as my plans for stocking etc. Here are some of my previous tanks, I typically am heavy softie/LPS and gorgonians are my favorite corals! 22. Curious to see who uses a QT tank (and who doesn’t) and what is your preferred method of QT? Do you QT corals and inverts too? I do QT fish and have a preferred process, but have not QT corals and inverts.. curious to hear others input. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I just got two G6 XR 15 pro and I am extremely impressed with the spread. I am using them on a big tank and planning to add more. I haven’t done a par reading, but visually it’s impressive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I would still lean towards the dwarf angels. Which ones do you have? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Dangit, I don’t have Fusion or even internet at this time. No other workaround? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
