I have some areas on my new aquascaping that don't have direct light from my Radion.  I put an island/column in my tank and the back side of it does get light, but not direct light.  I also have some areas under monti caps that I would like to populate.  I have the top figured out for SPSs, but I'm looking for some ideas for the sides where the lighting is lower.  I'll post some pics tonight.  I obviously stole the island reef idea from the Ecotech advertisements.

Since some of you are looking at this post from Taptalk and my signature doesn't show up, this is what I am working with: 60g cube, Radion 15pro G3.

Any suggestions for nice looking lower light items?  SPS's would be great, but open to other ideas.  Photos would be appreciated.

I'm looking for stuff to go on the sides of the column so I don't think the Chalice will work, but the blue sponge and dendros are great ideas.

Anybody have any more?

Pavona. It is mostly encrusting but will grow ears or leaves.

Posting pic of a rusty colored pavona coral.

I have a free frag for you, if you can tolerate my insane schedule enough to pick it up.

They will grow on the bottom of the tank and at the top of the tank and will live through nightmare conditions. I don't even know where mine came from... I never saw it on any newly purchased rock, yet one day noticed a small patch growing on the back side of a rock at the very base of the rockwork (the ones in the pic are pieces of the original which I broke apart).

s2nhle - Funny you should suggest that!!  On Sunday I traded my old 30g setup for a bunch of zoas from a WAMAS member.  Since I have no zoa skills, I have some learning to do about the light requirements for the zoas I have. Do you think they would do well under overhangs and such?

treesprite - I may take you up on that.  I actually work in Lanham.

No more zoas near the bottom for me. They spread too much and I'm paranoid about removing them from rock and dealing with palytoxin.

I have a device I use to remove unwanted pests, but it siphons as it destroys. I used to to remove a few ugly zoas.

My vote is chalice if it is indirect light. Strong direct light results in color shift anyways.

Chalices are cool but I'm getting tired of their 4" sweepers that can go stinging any direction

So who wins in territory battle between zoa/paly and SPSs?  Will zoas grow over SPSs or will the SPS fend off the zoas?  I wouldn't mind having zoas if they don't take over all the real estate.  Basically infills until the SPSs take off.

Usually SPS gets stung and loses, but there are probably some that can take it.

Here is my island. iPhone pics....bad color and bad lighting, but you can get an idea of the shape. The last one is from down low looking up at the island.
