gmerek2 September 27, 2014 September 27, 2014 Cool. I always have wondered if using brut trash cans could be bad for the fish. This looks cost effective and safe
Djplus1 September 28, 2014 September 28, 2014 I use a 15 gallon version that I got from some prepper website. The problem with this type of drum is getting the water out. 15 gallons is manageable to pick up and dump into my brute for mixing, but unless you're gonna syphon, you ain't getting a power head into those holes or installing bulkheads.
Keraxis September 28, 2014 Author September 28, 2014 external water pump. You just have to put a pipe in and the pump is mounted to wall..
Djplus1 September 29, 2014 September 29, 2014 external water pump. You just have to put a pipe in and the pump is mounted to wall.. True, but it's not as easy or CHEAP (which was the reason of the OP I assume). If you're gonna try to save money on a container, using a $200+ pump to get the water out doesn't make sense.
lnevo September 29, 2014 September 29, 2014 You don't need to install a bulkhead. You can use uniseals which I would recommend anyway for curved surfaces.

Do you trust uniseals on that kind of water volume? I've used them at work for 10 gallon round tubs, and always see them on small items like skimmers, that often don't need to be leak proof. I just feel with no way of actually tightening a uniseal you could experience leaking if there is a decent amount of pressure from large volumes of water.

howaboutme September 29, 2014 September 29, 2014 I use 2 32 gallon brutes with unseals. No problems. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
lnevo September 29, 2014 September 29, 2014 I have uniseals for the site level in my 32 and 20 brutes. I had bulkheads installed before i knew about them...
