freshfins February 11, 2014 February 11, 2014 I need to run a long line from the RODI to a tank and I'm wondering if silicone airling tubing is ok? Does it break down and add silicate to the water?

wildcrazyjoker81 February 11, 2014 February 11, 2014 They sell this pretty cheap at home depot/lowes as well. House of Tropicals carries it too.
freshfins February 11, 2014 Author February 11, 2014 Thanks, but I know about the RO tubing. I was asking about the silicone tubing because I like it's flexibility. Just wondering if it's safe to use.

Enkay February 11, 2014 February 11, 2014 Its pure water you will be running through it. what could go wrong ? :P
FishyPapa February 11, 2014 February 11, 2014 We use silicon tubing in the labs for out ultra purified water and it's not an issue. (They wouldn't use it otherwise). No contamination issues.
flooddc February 12, 2014 February 12, 2014 It's fine to use! But it might be too soft for the JG fitting. Water pressure might pulled it out of the fitting.
Grav February 13, 2014 February 13, 2014 It is fine for the water, but if that line is going to be under pressure, I would expect it to burst. Home depot sell 1/4 poly in 10 ft lengths. Many good aquarium shops :o) sell it in lengths cut to order.... including Reef eScape,
