steveoutlaw November 1, 2013 November 1, 2013 So, I bought an RODI from BRS and have been using it for about 6 months. Now, buying from a REEF SUPPLY company I assumed this would be able to work with a float valve. WRONG!! Apparently the Reef supply company doesn't include an ASOV on their RODIs. Can't wait to get this next water bill.
JMsAquarium November 1, 2013 November 1, 2013 Air Water Ice sells ASOVs. Can't you install one on your RODI?
AlanM November 1, 2013 November 1, 2013 Weird. Mine came with one. Not sure if it came as part of a kit or what, but I got it from BRS with the ASOV already installed.
wangspeed November 1, 2013 November 1, 2013 There are many RODI kits available from BRS. If you get one of the really low priced ones, it won't include ASOV. For me, ASOV is so-so. I still get water passing by some even when it's supposed to be off. Meh. I end up turning off a JG 1/4 valve when I know my RODI container is full.

I turn off the quarter turn supply valve when the can is full. The ASOV is mainly for flood protection.

Yes, I can install one and just ordered it this morning. I'm just surprised that they don't all come with them. It was my stupid mistake.
JMsAquarium November 1, 2013 November 1, 2013 Heya Steve, Yeah, It only took me a couple of years to post again, lol.
howaboutme November 1, 2013 November 1, 2013 The last I checked, my BRS ASOV shuts off my waste 100%. You all are going to make me double check now....That said, I always shut off my main valve to the RODI system when I'm done making water. As Alan said, the ASOV is meant to prevent flooding, not for on/off.
Origami November 1, 2013 November 1, 2013 Steve, call John at BRK. I'm pretty sure that he has an ASOV on the shelf. I'm pretty sure that I have a spare in my spare parts bin, too. I just confirmed it with John, he's got one if you need it.
