pizzaguy May 17, 2013 May 17, 2013 I'm not very well versed on corals so I need some ideas. I don't have a lot of room left in my tank except for the top shelf stuff for sps which my tank is not ready for and a lot of low light spots on the outside perimeter of my rock work. So I'm looking for ideas on coral that doesn't require a lot of light.
LCDRDATA May 17, 2013 May 17, 2013 Many types of softies -- for example, mushrooms, clove polyps, kenya tree, some palys/zoas, etc. -- don't need much light. I've even got some I could sell/trade if you'd like (PM if interested).
pizzaguy May 17, 2013 Author May 17, 2013 Looking for something more exotic is the best word I can come up with. I have a ton of designer Zoas palys now and a ton of euphyllia. I know there's gotta be something other then your normal stuff I already have. I also have mushrooms, clove polyps and some other softies. Just want low light stuff I don't already have. But thank you. Keep it coming please.
sachabballi reef May 17, 2013 May 17, 2013 Leathers or brain corals? Candy corals... Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2
pizzaguy May 17, 2013 Author May 17, 2013 I have acans on the sand bed now but directly under the lights. Do they or can they be in low light areas almost shaded? I like acans a lot. Actually picking more up this weekend from erc.
smallreef May 17, 2013 May 17, 2013 And there are some NPS that prefer fairly dark spots... Really cool looking stuff but you really have to feed them...

Actually picking more up this weekend from erc. Good question on the acans, I have moved some all ove my tank, the best response I saw was when they were on the sand bed. Iwould like to hear what others have to say. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
newtoreef May 17, 2013 May 17, 2013 I have some pulsing Xenia big frags dirty cheap. Also Kenya tree as well. Let me know if you interested
pizzaguy May 17, 2013 Author May 17, 2013 Sorry but thank you for the offer. Don't want anything overly invasive.
ExoticReefCreations May 17, 2013 May 17, 2013 Acans are able to adapt to different light intensities but to get them really puffy and great polyp extension low light and moderate flow is the best. Other good low light corals are fungias, blastos, and a lot of chalices do great under low light
kjamaya May 18, 2013 May 18, 2013 Get your self some Black sun coral, orange sun corals, anthelias, tube anemone, and colt coral. Just to name a few.
pizzaguy May 18, 2013 Author May 18, 2013 Thanks for all the advice. I'm gonna go to erc and pick up some of his sick acans he has and try those to start. See if they can withstand the low light.
