Paul B. is a crackpot and doesn't know a black worm from a platypus

Recommended Posts

Just taking a jab at ya' Paul, I've seen you suggest numerous times that somebody go start their own thread.

I've been reading about your blackworm feeding, and recently purchased a fresh batch. I waited till my LFS had a fresh supply come in. I picked them up after work. I twiddled my thumbs all the way home, eager to watch my fish gobble them up in ecstasy.

I threw open my door, ripped the bag open, tossed some in.... every single last fish snuffed them. And every last one hit the bottom of the tank

I wonder if maybe my fish are still young (small) and their mouths are too small? My clown pair has fought over bigger pieces of shrimp between the two of them though, so I don't get it?

Good news though, my RBTA's love em',

He's not always right? Wow...

Paul's freakin hilarious, and being that he has been in this hobby longer than I have been alive I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that most fish (all of his, lol) love those things...frankly I think they are icky and I will never try using them, lol

My fish love them, especially my Copperband, even my tiny neon gobies grab'em.

So...what do you do w/ them if no one's eating them all?

There are a lot of people that have been in this hobby for a long time, I'm thankful that so many of them are on WAMAS and able to help folks like myself. I was astounded as well when my fish looked at me like I was stupid. Funnily enough, I put in some of Sustainable Aquatic pellets in right after, and they gobbled them up. I have tried numerous times over the past 3 days or so to offer them at feedings, and nothing. I've cut my pumps and tried that, and nothing. Good news is, they still go crazy for Jans. I was looking to add as much variety to their diets as possible.

Good question. My nems love them, but I'm not going to go through the bag I got before they die. I'm getting ready to put it up fo' free. Pickup in Arlington.

Put them in a small bowl with a lid and rinse them in fresh water every other day and they will live till you feed them up. Also need to hide them in the frige so the GF doesn't find them.

My fish did the same the first time. During your regular feeding add black woms to your mix, the fish will accidentally take the worms and realize how good they taste.

+1

Don't give up. My fish go nuts over them, even the small fish. Once they realize what they are they will love it.

The best way to keep them alive is to put them in the fridge. I have been using blackworms by the pound for my freshwater fish. If you dont have a worm keeper, then you do need to change their water and rinse them at least every other day.

Heat will kill them and they STINK once they start dying off. So keep them cool and keep the water clean.

Give it a little time, my fish go crazy over them. It's kinda like a riot or a stampede when I throw them in

We all can't have intelligent fish. Some of them are stupid, what can I tell you?

I knew my fish were intelligent! Except for my puffer, he's snooty and will only eat shrimp

That reminds me of a girl I used to date.

wanted: smarter fish, or bacon flavored black worms.

I have had about 25 fish all willing to shank one another over the last worms. Some of them won't eat anything else anymore. The thing I love the most about black worms is that they are very absorbent with makes it easier to feed "laced" food to finicky fish. I put them in a little dish and remove all on the water, then add a few drops of selcon, a few drops of brightwells vitamin M and a single drop of garlic X. The garlic causes the worms to swell up to around double their size and pull in all of the other stuff over the course of about five minutes. I'll pour out the remaining selcon and put in some tank water to feed them with a blaster.. I feed them to my mandarin, dendros, torches and frogspawn with a long target feeder too

Did you put a little lemon and cocktail sauce on the worms? Some fish are snooty and will only eat them like that.

Maybe you should show your fish this video of my fish eating them. None of my fish will pass up a worm and I have about 25 fish. The larger fireclown is 19 years old and if he doesn't get worms, he texts me curses.

They all get worms twice a day and every fish in this video is spawning except the copperband (I wish) and the manta ray (who is hideing)
