Der ABT February 11, 2013 February 11, 2013 Looking for a place to cut some glass for me and having trouble finding one that can do small pieces Looking for 3/8th glass squares as small as 4*3 1/8 for an external overflow Thanks for any help
Chad February 11, 2013 February 11, 2013 I don't know about that small, but I had Del Ray Glass do some work for me when I was building my sump.
trockafella February 11, 2013 February 11, 2013 I would recommend Del ray as well.. They are right up the street from my work and ive used them before and was pleased with the work.
Coral Hind February 11, 2013 February 11, 2013 Banner Glass 5733 Seminary Rd Bailey's Crossroads, VA 22041 (703) 820-1515 If you have the glass I can cut it for you.
treesprite February 12, 2013 February 12, 2013 Gaithersburg Glass Co. cut a 47" strip for me that was only 1" wide. They cut it by hand because it was too narrow for the cutting thing.
Der ABT February 12, 2013 Author February 12, 2013 Your the Man Dave 31.50 for my needs.....thats alot cheaper than i was thinking it would cost ill post up pics when its done hopefully tonight since the baby is coming in the morning wether it wants to or not.
AlanM February 12, 2013 February 12, 2013 Gaithersburg Glass Co. cut a 47" strip for me that was only 1" wide. They cut it by hand because it was too narrow for the cutting thing. I'm trying to contact them to get something similar cut and I only get their machine when I call and no response so far from emailing them. Maybe I'll have to drive over there.
Coral Hind February 12, 2013 February 12, 2013 AlanM, What size glass and thickness are you looking for?
AlanM February 12, 2013 February 12, 2013 6mm graylite black (actually dark gray) or other dark tinted glass to see how much a glass internal overflow box would cost. 4 pieces total 4 inches tall on the sides, 3 inches tall in the front (to provide for water to fall over the front edge), 36 inches wide, 1 inch front to back (bottom piece). Then I'd probably get a clear glass box with 4 sides, dimensions of 5"x5"x36" to silicone behind the tank and I'd cut 4 1.5" holes in the back wall to link the internal box with the external box where the plumbing actually is. I've contacted Adam to build me something nice out of acrylic to cover the plumbing part in the back since it won't be in the wall.
Der ABT February 12, 2013 Author February 12, 2013 i would go acrylic on the inside and glass on the outside...that way you can go nice and skinny inside the tank and not take up much room/light.....also since it wont hold much water it doesnt need to be glass. for the outside box definately want glass..... thats what im doing at least

Still thinking about that. How big will your inside box be? Was thinking glass for adhesive issues rather than structural, mostly. Heard silicone doesn't stick well long term to acrylic so was going to use it for looks around glass rather than for water holding maybe.
DepT February 13, 2013 February 13, 2013 Full Service Glass in Manassas had excellent customer service when I used them for my sump build. They cut me 5 pieces and had it done less than 2 hours after I called.
