my reason is that it look much better, adding T5 blue+ make it easier on the eyes, make it much less intense in a way, and it also blend all the little "spot lighting" effect together so it seems like a single source light (MH style shimmer)... personal preference.

Looks great...I'm guessing this is Nam's old tank? I like the t5/LED combo too. When I eventually give in and go to LEDs, that's my plan as well.
