John November 9, 2011 November 9, 2011 What size tank do you need for that. Probably 500+ Or you can set up a pond in the garage
davelin315 November 10, 2011 November 10, 2011 It's funny how loosely the word "trio" is used on there instead of just saying it's a 3 lot. It's happening more and more lately. They even use it with snails, for crying out loud. I think it's a misnomer to say that these three tangs are a "trio". I've seen them swim in shoals before or even in what most would consider a school, but honestly, I would say that these are probably just three fish that are swimming together because of their housing situation and calling them a "trio" is suggesting the wrong thing. Heck, if you watch my tank the fish all swim together, does that mean that I could list my emperor, unicorn tang, and two dussumieris as a "quad"? Liveaquaria is great, but this is exaggerating things a bit and I've been bothered for awhile about how loosely the "trio" thing is thrown around there.
Saltwaterworx November 10, 2011 November 10, 2011 Davelin: I totally agree. The den is a cool spot, but sometimes makes me wonder. I buy 6 lots of yellow tangs every now and then. I wouldn't even imagine doubling or even tripling the price on them and calling them a "sextet". If anything, you'd get a price break. Though a group of 3 is considered a trio, terms like that take on a whole new meaning in the fish world. Bowiereefer: regardless its a nice link!

I find it funny they would even think someone would want 3 naso tangs. They are nice, but 3? Really? And not for that price. It is fun to look at though! I also noticed they have not yet sold. Anyone willing to drop that much money probably knows better than to make that purchase imo. Edited November 10, 2011 by BowieReefer84
trockafella November 10, 2011 November 10, 2011 As far as the price, keep in mind the size of them.. 10" is definitely show size, and there "aussie", and a "trio".. I think those words fit the price.. No different the "japanese deepwater" corals that arent from japan.
SunWyrm November 10, 2011 November 10, 2011 (edited) I think trio is pretty fitting as one looks like a very nice male. Those could be his girls he's had forever or even recently grouped with him. If they are in the same housing environment and getting along fabulous, I'd buy 'em as a trio and think it was well worth it (okay so I personally would rather buy babies, but if someone wanted a trio to try to breed them I think this would be a nice deal for healthy adults). Also if you look at their normal pricing on these guys, its 499 for a standalone 7-9" male. This is a pretty nice deal as far as LA goes... Edited November 10, 2011 by YiatzOfEden
Coral Hind November 11, 2011 November 11, 2011 It is sad but they are nice show size 10" fish and they are only recommending a 180g tank for them. I think they should be in a much larger system that!
SunWyrm November 11, 2011 November 11, 2011 I've been wondering why they (or at least someone) don't also recommend swimming room in addition to that. It might be more difficult, but I think that saying these tangs need 8'x3'ish (?) of space then that might help a lot of bad choices in tank size stocking. Maybe?
