moga March 21, 2011 March 21, 2011 i have 30x30x20 cube tank.. don't know whether i choose wave box or vortech.. what's your suggestion? let me k now guys.~
Chad March 21, 2011 March 21, 2011 I would go with a vortech. The reason that I say that is because the wavebox is more difficult to set up on short tanks (I had some issues with mine, 36" tank, that I solved by swapping the controller out with a 7096, which can do a shorter pulse width). Also, I don't think the back and forth is quite adequate as a standalone flow. Finally, the vortech can be set up to do a wave if that is really what you want. My 0.02
roni March 21, 2011 March 21, 2011 vortech. the wavebox is really designed for 4 ft or greater tanks. i loved mine and really will miss it with the downgrade in tank size. there is nothing like a tuned wavebox. it's the closest to real reefs in terms of wave action that i've seen.
moga March 21, 2011 Author March 21, 2011 you think one MP40 will do it on my tank dimension? or should i Get two MP10?~
Alieu07 March 21, 2011 March 21, 2011 you think one MP40 will do it on my tank dimension? or should i Get two MP10?~ One mp40 should be good for that size tank. Also mp40 is good when you upgrading tank in a future.
amay121 March 21, 2011 March 21, 2011 (edited) I'd go with 2 MP10s instead. At least have a little redundancy when you're cleaning the pumps off. Also, I'd head out to that fish place if you can. They're doing a buy one get one half off (in store), so you should be able to get it both pumps for $417.36, and that's for the Wireless version. That'll save you $144 or so. Glenn March 21, 2011 March 21, 2011 I had a 24" cube with two MP10's and loved the flow that I got with them .. they weren't wireless so I just made sure that I waited about 30secs before I turned the 2nd one on - gave me a little different flow like you get with anti-sync mode in the wireless ones. Guy - is that 1/2 off (in store) good for anything ??? I'm stocking up on goodies for my 180 build and I think I could use two more MP40's .. or 60's if they have them !!!
luan67 March 21, 2011 March 21, 2011 I have the same tank Tony and have 2 MP10s. They are great but I dont think the flow is enough. I like them more than the MP40 though since u can place the MP10 is small and you can get 2 of them for different placements at the same price as a MP40.
