Hi Everyone,

What's the best way to clean the glass lid of a saltwater tank? There is white salt spray on the lid of my 54G. I clean it with water, and it looks fine until it dries. Is there a secret? Should I use a razor blade or something different?

Thanks,

Matt

soak for a little while in white vinigar then wipe clean with paper towle, its seriously that simple

for me the best way was to just throw it out. I have not had lids on my 75 gallon for the last 4 years. So much better than having to clean them all the time

+1 great advice!

I had glass tops on my 220. I threw them out too!

I removed the glass on my 90, but I still notice a mist on the plastic shield of the T5 light

I use RO/DI water to dissolve the salt. It works great without having to scrape and possibly scratch the glass. I only scrape algae from the glass. I try to wipe salt creep away with RO/DI water and then I use a vinegar and water solution to shine it all up. Newspaper works really well with the vinegar solution - no streaks or fibers. It's also safe, too.

I got rid of my glass tops shortly after starting in the hobby. Doing so allowed me to dose more kalkwasser, adjusting to increasing calcium demand and helping to keep my pH up.
