TonyInVa January 26, 2010 January 26, 2010 Is it the economy or maybe something else. I love this hobby so much, I would hate to have to get out of it if it wasn't my choosing.
mrcoral.com January 26, 2010 January 26, 2010 I can say from a Business point of View this hobby is strong!! We are doing so well looking to hire more help. All that being said it is tough for some out there but they will be back once things get better.
lanman January 26, 2010 January 26, 2010 It seems to be cyclical - about a year ago or so, we had the same discussion, and then a bunch of new people joined, and a few people returned, and nobody was quitting. And now we have had a few recently leaving. Not as many as last time. And the area we are in - people move around a lot, and sell off to start again later. bob

I'm sure it has a lot to do with the economy. This is an expensive hobby and I know a lot of people are out of work or have taken substantial pay cuts.
Coral Hind January 26, 2010 January 26, 2010 To me it seems because we live in an area that has a lot of government and government contractor jobs, colleges and military bases there has always been an ebb and flow. Even when the economy was doing good.

I'm surprised the turnover isn't higher. Which it actually probably is, we just don't see it since the people that join a club site usually have more success and enjoy the hobby more since there are people to enjoy it with.

Jon Lazar January 26, 2010 January 26, 2010 There have been three store fronts that I know of that have closed doors in the last year or so, Scales, AquaCo, and Wally's. Is Sean still running AquaCo as a service company?
Coral Hind January 26, 2010 January 26, 2010 Not to steal the thread, but when did wallys close..? When I was in there last week they said Friday would be the last day. They have been having a going out of business sale for about month.
Coral Hind January 26, 2010 January 26, 2010 Is Sean still running AquaCo as a service company? Yes, and he still has his website if anyone needs anything special ordered, but the store front is not open. http://aquacoforum.com/newforum/
