Stephen May 28, 2009 May 28, 2009 These are by far the BEST frag racks I've ever seen or owned. If you haven't seen them check them out. No ugly egg crate with these. They actually look nice in the tank. Shipping took a few days longer than I'm used to but after getting it I totally forgot about the wait. Blackrock Reef I also spoke with him about a group buy and he offers 15-20% off depending on how many you buy. If anyone is interested I'll set something up. I have the large and small rack but I'd be in for owning a medium size rack also.
Origami May 28, 2009 May 28, 2009 This is Dan's company. He used to live in San Diego but now lives up in the LA basin. He's sushi on nano-reefs.com. I have a couple of his original mag racks and have cloned one of my own using similar methods to his original design. He recently redesigned his rack and opened up "Blackrock Reef." He's a regular hobbyist and makes an effort to produce a clean piece of work that's easy to appreciate. His original product was crafted from black egg crate. The new version looks to be made from ABS or polypropylene.
Sikryd May 28, 2009 May 28, 2009 Yep - have to agree - nice clean looking racks. Ordered 2 myself. I also have the clear acrylic ones from thatpetplace - those are sweet too. I love the corner racks.

I love the corner racks. The "superstrength" magnets are good for 1/4" to 1/2" glass. If you have a larger tank (120+), these probably won't be strong enough. I use the acrylic ones from that pet place (rated to 5/8" I believe), and have good luck with the corner one, but the rectangle tends to fall over, so I positioned it so the end touches a piece of rock to hold it up more consistently. I don't like the acrylic ones because they restrict flow around the corals too much. Overall, I find they're good for a frag tank, but need larger magnets to be good holding places in a display.

I have had them for about 6 months and have had great luck so far. The corner one sits below my vortec with no problem, and the lengthwise one in the back of the tank. I've had that one fall over a couple times from too much weight on it - the magnets do suck big time. Did the rock thing too. They need stronger magnets - and should have put a 3rd one in the middle and they would be tops in my book. I don't know about the flow issue - if you fill the holes on any frag rack they all become the same as far as flow is concerned.... GREAT for the price though. You can always buy new magnets. I like the Blackwater ones better since they have vertical supports that rest against the glass and 3 magnets.
epleeds October 21, 2009 October 21, 2009 just got my MR-Medium today. looks really nice. going to put it in the tank when i get home. quick free shipping too.
rioreef November 13, 2009 November 13, 2009 Got mine today. Man are these built solid. Made one myself before with eggcrate, this makes that look like a paper toy. But, the best part of my post is the story my wife told me about my delivery today. I did not tell here that a package will arrive with strong magnets in it. It came via the US Mail and went into our mailbox (big metal one). Well, when my wife reached in to get the mail and the box, she did not expect the box to react and be pulled back in after she grabbed it. Needless to say my wife let out a little yelp as the mailbox pulled the box back down! I found that very funny and thought I would share it with you.
Hilary November 13, 2009 November 13, 2009 Too funny! "Honey, you have a package in the mailbox." "Why didn't you bring it in?" "It didn't want to come......"
